You are a very smart and talented young lady Nona. how do you come up with these ideas? It is because of you that I do believe that I will be voting GREEN. My mind was not made up until I watched your videos after searching Utube for all the parties videos to hear what they have to say. We need the Greens in Parliament. Look at the Quebec Party with 50 or so seats and about the same number of votes I think as the Green Party with 0 SEATS? THIS MUST BE Changed immediately. Keep up the Good Work!!
Fear not, I shall not be voting for Mr Harper. As I do not reside is West Calgary it is impossible for me to vote for him.
Though the current government may not be responding to our needs, I believe if the voting public understood how the Canadian electoral system worked we would see fewer ignorant comments. We do not vote for a president, we vote for a representative in the local riding.
@radoian, I know. People seem to think we vote like the Americans. We vote for a potential MP in our riding, not the person who will lead our country, the PM. In the United States, they vote for their local representative, and their President separately.
@andrcamp20 Yeah I know what you mean...although I think when people say, for example "vote against Harper", they just mean vote for the non-conservative representative in your riding...
But I was more remarking on the irony of telling people this, while including the word "president". And I know it was probably just an innocent mistake, but it was still a little funny!
@radoian I know that's what they mean. However, it's incorrect and I think that we, as the youngest generation of voters, are the only ones who can prevent these mistakes and inconsistencies from proliferating.
@radoian It wasn't an innocent mistake, it was 100% intentional. One of the mistakes that people keep making over and over (with no help from the media, and the parties themselves) is this belief that somehow the voting public votes directly for the Prime Minister and not for the electoral candidate in their riding.
@radoian I strongly believe that if more than 42% (stats from the last election) of the eligible voting public turned out on election day we might get a competent government, and one that represents the people. I figure if I don't vote I don't have the right to complain about the government. (Not that I would--I'm not allowed.)
Sorry for the multiple replies--darned character limi
Bull's eye! "When my friends ask me who my government is, I get embarrassed" - no only are Canadians being treated badly, our country is now an embarrassment to the international community. Thanks for a brilliant video that gives throws much-needed illumination on what our past government tries to distract us from seeing.
Unfortunately there is no party that I trust. Green and NDP have unrealistic platforms, and the Liberals and Conservatives are a bunch of crooks. What we need is a fiscally conservative party, with NDP style consumers rights, a strong clean energy investment policy, and realistic environmental and social goals. ( e.g. If you think canada can afford to shut down the oil sands then you are delusional... however cut the subsidies, the market will bear a premium for a reliable source of oil)
Great job and unfortunately an accurate description of the government atmosphere we have lived with since Harper took power in Canada. Thanks for making this video
Thank you for sharing your poetry with us. What you've done really well in this poem is to balance out frustration with the way the world is and hope for a better world, which is something that's not often done well in writing, as it is tricky.

I mean nothing malicious by this, but if your (our) lovers (government) are consistently bad, maybe there is something wrong with you (us).

Couldn't have said it better myself. We've been abused long enough. Vote for anyone but Harper on May 2nd!

While I can't say I'll vote Green, I can say this is a great examination of the popular politics going on out there. More talk is good talk!

Meh - boring, nervous, neurotic chatter. For really enthusiastic party music, check out the Bloc Québécois's theme:
Parlons-nous, parlons Québec
Refrain
Parlons-nous, parlons Québec
Parlons du Bloc Québécois pour défendre nos droits
Parlons fort, parlons franc, parlons clair
Parlons Québec
