I met Mike Weaver when he was in the Otis Grand band who I did a gig with in the late 80's. I asked him about "I'm a Man" which says that it was recorded live in Paris. He laughed and said that was Chris Blackwell's idea. It was actually recorded live in London at Brigitte Bardot's birthday party!!
Wow, I've almost forgotten what it was like in London and Liverpool! Ration cards, the Brits version of welfare right into the late 60s; the rapidly squalorized Estates and reconverted shelters. The riots caused by frustration (boy, the Limmies still couldn't come to terms that they were living in an oligarchical society\monarchy, with no way to organize against it). Some musings to understand the title of the vid. I suppose an adult youth would have trouble with self-worth in those conditions.

i envy you so !!!! :'s wauw great man, i am so looking for island records when they wer.... well they have allways been having the best artist but the sixty's... just starting, and marvellous music, but belgium forgot that stage and i am so sorry for that, cause i love that music. kind of weird caus all my friends are in to drumm n bass, rock, rnb n s***, i do like it too, but i prefer this kind of great music. im quitte oldschool... verrrrrrrry OLD school
