I have that bad boy with the 208cc engine. Big deal we aren't getting any snow. We should be messuring the snow in feet not a few inches. As i look ouside there is no snow and I live in Minnesota.
@kriegmeister3000 Thanks! Same here. NO SNOW yet this season in NH. It's January 11th and the ground is BARE all over the state. But a pretty big storm is to arrive in hours. I sure hope so. I want to ski on real snow, not the frosty junk that comes out of the machines.
Hey nice video! i have a 5.0 HP 21" CRAFTSMAN Dark green snowblower, has a Electric starter if plugged into a outlet. And it hasnt ran since last season...and i filed the cycle gas for it and tried hand starting it but no luck...then i pluged a wire in and used the electric starter..its turns it but when i release the electric starting button it wount keep running...Can you help? Please it will make cleaning snow easier.
I have the 24 inch model made by MTD who contracts most consumer power equipment. I am very pleased with the machine, it moves a lot of snow with little effort. The 179cc engine is a little under powered but it still does great. I can usually work it hard for an hour on a quart of gas. The engine is made by a company called Snow King, a generic version of Tecumseh and I run synthetic oil in mine because the small engine works hard. I recommend getting a set of tire chains, it makes a difference.
This video really helped me when i was looking for a snowblower. I have a JD tractor with a plow but wanted something to help me when we got a lot of snow. I ended up getting and Ariens ST36DLE and it is great.
This was a great informative video for those of us who have never used a snowblower and who need to purchase one. I have been using the old snow shovel for almost twenty years now. It's time I move on from pogo-stick to the Cadillac. Thanks for this video!
@ChefTips Jason, You will LOVE one. Much less work and the results are just as you see in the video. At the end of the season run all the gas out of it so it starts first pull next season.
Hi Tim, glad to see a video from you again! Very good stuff, I sure could have used one of those this year. Ever saw one with heated handles? My uncle has one and that is super sweet! hope to see more from you.
How can you say that without test data? You're wrong about the cables. I've had that machine out working in 5 F weather rotating the chute and the cables work great.
You are right.I have repaired snowblowers and motorcycles for over 30 years. They will freeze and the right front wheel bearing will lock up if you do not lub it every year.
With all the snow we got in MD this season, there have been all kinds of accidents with these suckers -- as well as with other forms of snow removal that people come up with (i.e. the guy that used a propane torch to melt snow on his roof and burned the house down. Sheesh.) Great video! Thanks a lot; I learned a bunch! I get it--You ALWAYS treat the snowblower as if it were on-- just as you ALWAYS treat a gun as if it were loaded.... And cool suspenders. :)
Thanks for your comment. This is a video for people who don't know the *differences* between the different machines. It's also intended to educate folks that machines that look identical are not so. I'm quite sure where you live there are many who have seen these machines, but are not educated about them. Don't assume anything ever.
Can you use a snowblower for any other chores, or, if it doesn't snow, the blower just sits in the garage? Would be nice if other attachments were available to do some rototilling or as a lawnmower in the summer months.
I think Ariens makes something like that. I saw it on there wesite once. The whole front end comes off and you can attach another piece of equiptment. I think it's kind of pricey though.
Really informative video Tim, these things look like really great pieces of equipment, It seems a whole lot easier than having to shovel the snow out of the way
They are great machines. I can't say enough good things about them. Up until two years ago, I had never used one. A shovel to a snowblower is like comparing a rock to a Paslode Impulse nailer! If you have a small area, just get a small dual-stage blower. You'll never regret it.
I have a single stage, Snapper blower that I've had for 18 years. I keep saying when it dies, I'm getting a 2 stage blower. Like you say, the smaller ones don't have the HP. But if you nibble, you'll get it done. Just go slow, let the machine work, and let the body take it easy. That 2 cycle just keeps going and going. Maybe if I want a new one, I'm going to have to leave the oil out of the fuel.....NOT.
I look outside and see brown grass and no snow. Here is a news flash we might get another dusting.

@CODxFUNxMAN Change the spark plug. Put some carburator cleaner in the gas. When you do store it for the season, always run the machine out of gas.
AsktheBuilder 1 year ago
@AsktheBuilder I thought that would be a problem the gas has been in there since last season...not too much of it plus now i added some new gas...

Arien's make better snow blowers. The snowblower with all the cables to move the shut well all those cable will freeze and more likely to brake

This video must be intended for people who have never seen a snowblower before. If snow is part of your life then a snowblower is part of your life.
Snowblowers are not very dangerous when the engine is not running by the way.

I found your video informative even though I own one. I do not like the fact engines are referred to in "cc's". I understand horsepower not cc.
