I remember this opening sequence as a little kid. The old tower gave me the creeps. If I was lucky then Annette would make an appearance later in the show to settle me down.
This was the first of two "Hardy Boys" serials presented on the "CLUB". This aired in the middle of the 1956-'57 season, and was the only one directly adapted from the original 'Franklin W. Dixon' book, "The Tower Treasure" {the first of the Hardy volumes}. The second serial, "The Mystery of Ghost Farm", was seen in the 1957-'58 season, and was an original story. Yes, that's Thurl, as he was one of the "Mellomen" quartet who worked on various Disney projects at that time.
@eyewarnedyou .....you know......this is (or was) avalible on DVD, all the episodes....I have it. Every so often I will watch it and suddenly I am a kid again. It really takes me back
@MsGardenhead I looked on EBAY a minute ago for you....YES!!!!!! they have it.....the original Disney reissue from 2006. It is the genuine series from the 1950s..... and the viewing quality is EXCELLENT. The price is quite reasonable too. Go on ebay and look up " Disney Hardy boys"
I bought the series off Amazon, and I was very pleased. It was a little of a shock to see cars shaped like boxes again! I would've loved to play Joe Hardy opposite Tim Considine, but I wasn't born yet!
I have been thinking of this series for over 40 years and searched here tonight and found the song. This series was shown here in Australia all those years ago. Great memories and I remembered the song instantly when I heard it here.
Hearing this song is like finding a long lost friend ... I haven't heard or thought of it in 40 or more years, but it's like it was yesterday .... thanks
Thanks for posting this. I remember watching it in England when I was very young. The gnarled hands opening the chest used to scare the s**t out of me.
Please give us more if it's possible. Disney's early "Hardy Boys" TV show is a Baby Boomer treasure. It inspired an entire generation of kids like me to read.
DEFINITELY TAKES ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD, FOLLOWED THIS SERIES, ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES ALNG WITH ZORRO.

@neverlostforwords
I vaguely remember this series from Australian television too.
I am exploring episodes of the original Mickey Mouse Club episodes.
These were made in the mid 1950's but I saw them in the mid 1960's on Australian regional television.
Great memories!

In 1956, those gold doubloon coins were only worth about $20 each. Today, they are worth at least $1400.00 each.
That treasure chest full of gold doubloons is a lot more impressive today.
