Boukoku No Akito looks pretty good (Layla looks like the most badass girl there except for the hooded girl (who is the C2 sort of girl?)
But I don't think it can ever quite be as epic as CG.
Lelouch was a god, no matter whether it was Eng dub or Jap dub, he still ruled, I don't think Akito can ever come close, but hell, Sunrise/Clamp know what they're doing.

I cried at lelouche's death scene, although i really wish lelouche was given the code and achieved immortality and be the driver in the last scene, the ending is open for interpretation and him dying would give it more drama

There's no need for talk of Death Note here, Code Geass was AWESOME and that's all that matters. Although Zero Requiem was one of the best endings ever, I've watched through the whole series four times and every time it made my eyes well up.
I saw this and a few moments later my baby cousin came in. As it ended, he shouted "Play it again!" So I did. After continuesly watching this over 12 times he left.
I have a feeling he will be the best cousin anyone could ask for.

Well... after watching GC and CGI've gotta say that they are very similar in some ways, especially the characters; however, the CG characters r better developed.
For example, they both, Shu & Lelouch, get "the power of the king" at the end of the first episode. There is a wheelchair girl around, Lulu & shu r considered terrorist. Plus, in CG, Lulu kills Shirley's dad & tries to kiss kallen, & in GC shu kills Jun & tries to kiss Hare. But CG is simply better u cant compare Lulu w/Shu...

And i doubt he could have accomplished as much as he did without his geass.Although, he was a genius, a brilliant tactician, and he could manipulate ppl but some of the people would have been impossible to control without the geass. (They were needed to be completely obediant for certain important situations to allow Lelouch to succeed.)
Hangyaku No Lelouch: R1 was better than R2 (Yes I say the japanese names), but the ending for R2 was the best I've ever seen in my life..
It put an end, but it left loose ends for the imagination. Code Geass was art, a masterpiece. Not just a bunch of cartoons fighting with some interesting lines.

@father042 While I do agree with you that I REALLY wanted to kill Nina, I don't believe that Death Note's ending was even the least bit sad. As much as I did love Death Note's ending, it left on more of a disturbing note...and it was much better that way. And there was LOTS of fan service in Death Note. Misa was basically MADE for fan service. And besides Light and L, Death Note had plenty of bland side characters. I still love the series (I grew up with it), but it wasn't the best of all time.

Hangyaku No Lelouch: R1 was better than R2 (Yes I say the japanese names), but the ending for R2 was the best I've ever seen in my life..
It put an end, but it left loose ends for the imagination. Code Geass was art, a masterpiece. Not just a bunch of cartoons fighting with some interesting lines.

@Darkblaze4000 That type of villain work very well imo and is more complicated than the typical villains who cause trouble just for the lolz.The type of villains like lelouch and light believe their actions to be justified and for the greater good but they're kind of delusional and do not realize the consequences that arise until much later.(Although, they do make somewhat of a positive impact)So the viewers are given the choice of agreeing with the villain's ways or not.

Lelouch didnt die check top comment he got charles immortal code when he died it activated which is how Nunnnaly was able to see all of his memories upon touching him similar to what happened with c.c. and lelouch.The reason lelouch retains geass is that his contractor(c.c) doesnt die and he gains the other code which allows him immortality and he retains geass. However, Death Note did outdo CG in some areas.
- The plots were well planned-out, rather than running on contrived coincidences like CG did
- For the most part, it didn't suffer pacing issues; same can't be said for CG R2
- The mind battles were a lot better; though Lelouch was brilliant, I didn't get the same superhuman genius feeling like I did with Light and L
Now, I love both series, but they're way too different to be compared. Let's leave it up to personal taste, hm?

There are other characters in DN besides L, You can't judge because of one characters death. Even if L is a main character. . the plot didn't die with L's Death.
You're basing all of your critiques because you sided with L. Which makes all of your comments subjective to Opinion. Light, LIKE L, is not perfect. They are two very smart characters making the anime very interesting even if the ending was predictable/not to your likings

(Spoiler Alert for any persons who have not watched Code Geass Season 1 or 2): Princess Euphemia died and it didn't ruin the show - If anything it accelerated the plot (Giving Suzaku another thing to fight for); Shirley was a main character as well and her death didn't ruin the show either. . . they tried soo hard to make it awesome by making so many plot twists and some made no sense (the one where Euphie was told to kill all the Japanese was especially retarded)
2 The DN ending was much sadder, but it was dissapointing
3 Lelouch was THE ONLY good chatracter in code Geass
CC was just random pizza eater and the only interesting thing about Kallen was her breasts

@father042 While I do agree with you that I REALLY wanted to kill Nina, I don't believe that Death Note's ending was even the least bit sad. As much as I did love Death Note's ending, it left on more of a disturbing note...and it was much better that way. And there was LOTS of fan service in Death Note. Misa was basically MADE for fan service. And besides Light and L, Death Note had plenty of bland side characters. I still love the series (I grew up with it), but it wasn't the best of all time.

5 fights don't make anime better and thought finghts in DN were way more interesting
