The really sad part about this is that if a band in The States covered this tune in their set, even doing it well, audiences' eyes would just glaze over, and folks would start walking out because it's too sophisticated for the majority of American audiences. Level 42 fans are typically pariahs in America. That's why it's been so long since they've toured there. Hope this one gets them the support they so richly deserve.
@Ry42Back Sadly, I did not get a chance to see them. Show sold out locally before I could get tickets. Friends went and took pics, said it was awesome, which is not surprising. I would have enjoyed listening and shaking their hands afterward, but I'm sure they got/get plenty of that already. Any word on what's next?
That is one white ass horn line. I mean just listen to the interplay between Mark and Gary, then throw that two-bit horn line on top of them, criminal!
As I watch I was realizing what is considered a hit on todays radio play can't even carry level 42's amps to the gig.......unbelievable musicians. Did you see Gary lay waste to that Kit.....I got goosebumps.
This really illustrates the depth of Gary Husbands Musicianship. He is truly awesome . I understand he plays Keyboards in Billy Cobhams Band.Bravo Gary. This song is truly great R&B ,love the horns. And for a guy who says he is not much of a 5 string player, Mark does a great job and sings very complex parts as well.Bring this one back Mark!.
I think these comments suck personally just because your a Holdsworth fan.
Jakko is an amazing guitarist in his own right not just with Level but in a solo capacity as well as other bands and has played with a lot of the greats.Mark personally invited Jakko to Join L42 and he is part of the bands history.
I'd get some more years under your belt before making comments about people who have contributed greatly to music for years.
@76alembic Thanks Norm he is and a friend of mine called Rob Reed who lives just up the road from me and is also the brains behind the prog rock band Magenta from South Wales,is currently collaborating with Jakko and Nick Beggs of 80's band Kajagoogoo on his new album which is a solo album.
Nick plays a chapman stick and recorded it in Jakkos studio here is the link you can hear my friend Rob Reed in the background, this is actually a new track.
The guitar solo was originally played by Allan Holdsworth. I can tell that this guitar player was struggling to copy him. Wish Allan had stayed. Wat a beautiful solo. After all his drummer, Gary stayed with Level 42 for longer.
I know it's been said before but Mr King MUST have two brains to hold that groove and sing at the same time. My Fav track of this album. Nice solo by Jakko and Gary Husband's drumming is awesome
Very nice one. great track by Gary, very talented musician all round.Very modern R&B flavor. Mark on a 5 live, outstanding. The outro is E,W and fire like. Love those B string notes MARK!.Very nice Ry42Back.
Too bad there is no Status dealers in Canada, I have never seen on in the flesh,or had the opportunity to play one .Have a number of exotic basses in my gang, love to add a Status MKII 5 .I love 4 ,s for slapping ,but really miss that low B. My rig goes flat to 28 hz ,the full note not just harmonics
A very very good song.not about bitches or hoes or and badass nonsense.

@pongoid I agree pongoid totally unfortunately if they dont have long hair or sing rap the market over there doesn't usually like it.
The good news is though the new tour over there has met with a great response and is being looked forward to are you going to any gigs?

I love gary husbands drumming. Hes a real fusion player and there arnt many that can make the drums an instrument like this.
You can here that tony williams and billy cobham have made there mark on this great world class drummer.
