To Joannaarrr -- this was a nice older violin made by an american violinmaker. there are some very nice entry level violins out there. a good violin shop will put out several violins for you and let you try them side by side. you should be able to find one that feels good to you and more importantly sounds good to your ear. good luck!
truly amazing...wow...ur posts are just so awesome--
i like your watching your other channel --
musicasa2ndlanguage -- its nice to be able to see all of you both playing and performing. truly amazing...wow...ur posts are just so awesome...keep posting and playing!!...=)
this is an exceptional American-made violin; not German. if your 1927 German violin sounds this good, then it's no wonder it was expensive. violins of this calibre cost alot :D
I will post a video if i have a time of my violin sample so you can compare.
The thing is that, you cannot trust what's said inside the violin because there are so many people who just bull-shit it. Anyway,
you can check it out when i post it
thx
(by the way, you are a good violinist as I am 15 years old, who is also learning to play violin, I am really impressed by your playing! ^^) I am Korean by the way HAHAHA
I have listened to several of these violins that you are sampling. It is an amazing undertaking and is quite an achievement. It is so interesting to be able to listen to so many fine violins being played "side by side". You should issue this as a DVD for use in teaching. You're an amazing violinist. I don't know how you have access to so many fantastic violins, but your videos have made my day! I will recommend that my students take the time to listen to you! Thanks.
@doggarrrs Not true but skill does have to be there a stradivarius for example was made from a old piece of wood which exists no more like saying that a violin player will still sound good on a violin made out of card board. And choosing a violin is important if you want to sound good you need a nice violin not a cheap one sacrifice is needed to be able to get one violinists know that.
I wish I got to play on so many violins, it would be a good experience. But I can't complain; I've played on a del gesu and amati, and, if things go right, I have a chance at getting my own amati.
Are all of the violins that you're playing ultimately sold? They're all excellent violins. What are the prices? Nice that you provide these sound samples.
No, sorry, this one has sold. There is a very fine German violin, (Ebay #220160512959) currently for sale that also has phenomenal tone and playability. There is a link to it's sound sample on Ebay...you can search it by the Ebay #220160512959 and click on the link to hear it.
That's so nice of you to say. It's so much fun to get to play all of these wonderful violins. Everytime I do one of these recordings, I'm working with a violin that probably hasn't been heard in years. Each one is different--always a surprise. I'm glad you like the videos!
gosh that is a gorgeous looking violin! LOVE the varnish-- so deep and warm

I shouldn't try a violin in that hall, because it's too acoustic. If you try violins it's better to play in a hall where it sounds more 'dry'.
olga2809 3 years ago
hi...thanks for writing. i'm playing in a home, not a hall because that's where the violin collection is...thanks :D

this violin obviously sounds good because of the player, not the violin itself!
