you should look into incorporating the ultra micro beast electronics. that will help a lot. wing mounted servos one per wing and the receiver, speed controller rudder and elevator servos are in one nice little one inch package and weighs next to nothing. runs a incredible small 7.2v 2s lipo and its just what that plane needed. all components together like maybe just over an ounce. hope you look into it. great build great information and happy flying bud.
I've watched both vids and they are very instructional, TY! I have learned some great techniquics and ideas from these..thanks for taking the time and effort to help others!
would you build me one? i have sent you emails but no reply i offered you money so please respond! i do not have the equipment to do this project and im sick of those electric parkzone things! please respond! thanks!
Would be wise to do all your painting and finishing touches only after a successful maiden flight... that is what even major manufactures does with their proven designs.
Then again, that wouldn't have made a very good instructional video huh? If I'd known you'd have been so upset about me putting in the extra effort of painting my own plane before flying it, I would have reconsidered the entire project. The fact that you watched the video until the end must mean that it was worth watching. Good day!
@THExxxTINMAN No, i wasn't upset with the video or anything, it was only my humble advice.. I thought it would be disappointing to see all that work go to waste or damaged. Having build a lot of planes myself (mainly my own designs), this is probably the first lesson I learned.. I leave off whatever non-essential for flight stuff until after a successful maiden. you might have to change/modify a lot of things. I was saying even a new 777 test-flies in bare metal mainly check for cracks..
@inciteman If I made the wings bigger it wouldn't be scale. If I put flaps on it, it would add much more weight with the added hinges, tape and servos and sort of defeat the purpose of having flaps. But thanks.
I have looked everywhere and all I can find is the fiberglass cloth that is not tightly woven. I checked home depot and lowes so I'm at a loss at what I should do now. any suggestions?
You will have to look at a Hobby shop or on line to find it. It is made for model airplanes so you won't find it at a hardware store. The one I buy is made by SIG. It comes in .5 and .75 ounce variations it really doesn't matter which you use. Hope this helps.
@THExxxTINMAN if I have a larger model could I use the fiberglass that is slightly thicker but is the stuff that is used to patch boats? or would that be too heavy - thanks for all the info btw.
@THExxxTINMAN I am writing to apologize for my last comment. I didn;t realize that the yellow plastic I saw was from the ESC, I thought it was a small 4.8v rx batt. I saw the video again and realised that it is the ESC shrink wrap. Sorry man. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing. Fernando...btw.....very nice P51
thanks for teaching how to fiberglass. will try it soon. I use a foam glue called UHU POR it a green tube with yellow and black lettering. the best stuff I have ever used on foam of any kind EPS, EPP, styro...I am sure it will work with this type as well. I see you use a separate battery for the receiver, your ESC doesn't have a BEC or you can get a UBEC which will bypass your ESC bring the Volts down to 5V. Thanks again for your video, I learned from it.
finished product is legit

Where did you get the fiberglass cloth? And by the thanks for the great video.

Be wiser to put two hooks either end of that plane and hang it from your garage ceiling and look at it ..
That way it will last longer than one flight...
Take some advice that way you may learn more .

You might also be able to just make the wings bigger and put some flaps so you can bring it and land it slower.
