  • I need big help Demiath. Dungeon craft is a source portto unlimited adventures but I can't import anything from FRUA to it. Walls items monsters Nothing. Could you make a video explaining how to setup and run the source port plz?

  • @mikeymoomy123 Actually, Dungeon Craft is *not* a source port of FRUA. DC is an open source project with the aim of producing something very *similar* to FRUA but it's not the same engine at all, so you can't simply import assets from FRUA to DC.

Furthermore, any technical questions should be asked in the FRUA forums. I don't have much experience with FRUA or DC myself; I'm just a video guy with a YouTube channel...

  • nostalgia rush

  • It sucks you can't use your own music, at least not that I'm aware of.

  • one of the most awesome games ever made.

  • yep I'm one of 'em. We make dungeons and post them online you can run them and post some of your own.. they are mostly text based. game is about 15 years old and it still has ppl devoted to it.

  • I owned that program way back when. That brings back a lot of memories.

  • This... This is awesome! I've been searching for a game editor/creator of first-person dungeon crawlers for AGES (in all the wrong places as it seems)!

Hell I wasn't even sure if one existed untill I saw this. Thank you! :D

  • @MegaHassi It's the last Forgotten Realms game that was part of the SSI Gold Box games - Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. You'll need to use DosBox though.

  • i made some good mods in this engine.

  • Can you make randomly generated dungeons?

  • No.

  • @Demiath; can i play?

  • I spent literally days and months enjoying Unlimited Adventures. One of the greatest things ever released for any fantasy game fan. I made countless modules and campaigns for friends and myself...FRUA remains one of the best and most beloved (certainly to me!) game engines out there.

  • lmao flashback

i still have this on hd ....and floppy's buried somewhere :D

this is mostr definitly still floating around on abandonware sites

i also remember playing the aol dialup version way back when... it was the first massively multiplayer online role-playing game with graphics!

  • There's a forum, now: frua. isgreat. org

  • Thanks for the info. I've add the link to the text description.

  • Nice links you included. I knew about the winport, but not many do.

I never got FRUA. It also didn't come in the Interplay anniversary pack or the all-in-one D&D pack that came out in 97. I always toyed with the idea of messing with it, but never got around to it.

    One day...

  • One day, indeed. I'm one of those who are always very curious about editors released for any game, but aside from having designed some rather lousy HOMM3 maps back in the day I very rarely do more than just play around with the tools a bit. That said, designing a truly hellish dungeon in FRUA is certainly a very tempting idea... ;)

  • I made that one NWN1 module I shamelessly advertised in my videos last year, and THAT was truly hellish. I had to learn it from scratch, since I didn't understand any of the toolset FAQs I was given or shown.

  • This reminds me of a GameSpy article I read which named NWN1 one of 25 the most overrated games of all time precisely because of the Aurora editor's complete lack of proper documentation. Good job, Bioware...

  • They actually did something right then (Gamespy.)

NWN1 only became worthwhile when the HCR came out. Even then, you had to depend on player made modules that used it, since most of the official content (Except for HotU) was marginal at best.

  • Yes, it's definitely worth trying if you're the slightest bit interested in RPG game design, and I should perhaps add that despite being over 10 years old and entirely DOS-based, the game's interface is surprisingly easy to learn and use.

  • thats pretty sweet, i gotta get that
