MSI Wind U100 Webcam Broken?

One thing you can do is google your netbook's model and look for the drivers. It looks like its using just generic drivers, instead of the specific one it needs.

Mine has 'disabled itself' if you like, it was working fine about a month back, but now when i open the program it says it hasnt been installed properly or something, i dont know what to do with it without losing my stuff?

i have a ? its not about the webcam but its about the laptop i have the charger and everything is plugged in and my laptop still wont charge so i never can start up have any ideas y it does that

ya same here. here is what you do, it did that when i went to Canada for a week, but i didn't take it with me, so when i got back it worked, just leave it sit, if it keeps happening, jiggle the charger until it works :)

Also about the webcam problem I had that problem since, I bought my netbook (MSI WIND U100 PLUS) on July 09 so I experienced problems on Jan so 6mo.

When I enable the camera, later on "My Computer" instead of "USB VIDEO DEVICE" it'll appear as "USB VIDEO DEVICE #2" and I can't find the original.

I haven't take it back to a customer service area.

Anyone also experienced this problem?

@gelot13 That sounds similar to what mine did, I'd call MSI and see if you can get it replaced if it's still under warranty.

@MawcDrums hmm. regarding that problem too, I could use the webcam sometimes, but like when I moved the lid or the flip, there it goes, USB VIDEO DEVICE #2

@gelot13 Unfortunately the netbook wasn't constructed as solidly as I had hoped.. It's nearly a year and a half old now, one of the hinges is broken, and it's simply much too slow for what I need a laptop for.. I think we're going to be buying a nicer laptop shortly.

My father borrowed my netbook then when he returned it it was gone.

@gelot13 it's some sort of driver graphics, when your father borrowed it he disabled the driver or something..

problem's that you're permanently smashing on it when closing the screen lid, if you google you'll see all sorts of failure modes for this netbook's cam. yes, you need to send it in. it's a hardware failure

@ishanaable mine wasn't damaged at all, it stopped working a week after I got the laptop, and it was barely used in that week.. It simply stopped working because it was a faulty crappy cheap webcam that they threw in there..

I have the same problem I see black screen no picture. Could it be that after some time the piece of crap dies? Or with some MS update something changed. I have not tried to put the backup image back, YET..

I'd think it is... call them up and see what they say, they'll most likely want you to send it back... It didn't take TOO long to get back to me, i sent it on January 19th, and I got it back on February 4th... pretty quick service

well Here's an update, I had to send it back to MSI and they fixed it.. now it works fine.. . it was a bad webcam... they said they've seen a bunch come back like that..

i see black too, but with one difference. When i trie to double click de video device icon on my pc, windows gets and error, and i cant just see the interface for (trie) take photo.

One week ago, i was using webcam in skype. Now, pressing F6 i dont see the led. And in webcam aplications only black screen.

Errors updating firmware too.. so, now, i just have webcam on my msiwind.

All updated,.. bios.. chipset, video.. I think i have trie all combos, and nothing. I cant turn on this webcam.. bufff
