  • Who would listen to Bartok instead of Justin Bieber? I just don't get it.

  • @justinbieberforking Trawl more. :|

  • Yeah!? But can she play Jump by Van Halen?

  • @ericoulthwaite LOL absolutely the best way to judge her talent... and I am not even being sarcastic. :D

  • The elderly woman behind that big black instrument has lovely hair!

  • 298 stars - and I raise you 100 !!! Magnificent !!!

  • When the rubato theme returns in the end, is like the sun after the rain, shining over a green prairie

  • I met her too and I found her mesmerising, shy and warm, interested in her audience - GREAT. But what makes her truly great is the way she engages her mental and intellectual processes seemingly to offset her passionate musicality. I agree she is an incredible person.

  • she´s the godess.the first sentence was....aaaaaaaaah

  • I was weeks ago in HAmburg on NDR recital and Piotr Anderszewski was playing ...it was BREATHTAKING, amazing!!!

  • Martha Argerich, the last great living pianist; something has happened to Pogoelich and Zimerman is not quite in this league. Otherwise, it's a wasteland; there were once giants on the earth: Hoffman, Horowitz, Michelangeli, Richter, Rosenthal, et. al.

  • @billyguns2 sure Argerich is one of the greatest pianists. But it depends on what do you name a "Great Pianist".

  • @charmeueueur My definition of a great pianist is first and foremost a great and compelling musician with original ideas who plays with gorgeous tone, phenomenal technique, clarity of texture, and a singing line that goes against the percussive nature of the instrument.

  • @billyguns2 So, I don't understand what do you mean about Pogorelich and Zimerman. I attended their concerts recently and they fulfill all the requirements. Especially Zimerman, who plays unbelievable live. Of course, everybody has his tastes. But i think it is a little bit xtreme to say that there are no other great living pianists. All i write with a friendly manner.

  • @charmeueueur In my opinion Ivo pogorelich was one of the greatest and most oiginal of all pianists; if he is still playing in a sane manner, I am delighted to hear it, because some of his more recent work would indicate otherwise, e.g., the Rachmaninoff Secnd Piano Concerto on YouTube. Zimerman is a fine pianist who never consistently appealed to my imagination, unlike Argerich who ALWAYS speaks to me. It's all a matter of taste, but there used to be far more living pianists who were great.

  • @billyguns2 maybe this is our difference in taste. Because, though it is a very personal way to play Rachmaninov 2, I find it very profound. And this is because music itself has certain vibration. I attended a concert he played Rach 2. About Zimerman would be "wrong" to speak because he is my favourite pianist, i grown up with his recording and he seems to me xtremely familiar. But the two concert I attended, in 2008 and a month ago, I am pretty sure about what i heard.

  • @billyguns2 Argerich i like on certain composers but i love her . And talking about the past, I cannot judge pianists that never heard live, and I cannot compare pianists from different eras. I like the Barcarolla of Lipatti, and I like Zimerman' s also. These are both great music, profound and meaningfull, but are different things.

  • I think we all agree that Martha's the best, right? But then again, who can help but love her playing and personality!? :D

  • Oh, this is absolutely stunning. Bartók's Piano Concertos are amazing, just like Rachmaninov's and Vaughan William's. And Argerich really gives Bela a run for his money, since her performance it's outstanding, the dynamics are perfectly well expressed, not to mention articulations and the remarkable orchestra.

  • 298 stars

  • @marrieter08 OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND stars

  • Can you imagine if Argerich played the 2nd? :D

  • great performance from all....what a strange first movement...great but very mysterious, kinda amorphous. bartok is awesome :)

  • Comment removed

  • thats why i put violist instead violinist, DUH.

  • composed in 1945 and dedicated to his wife Diszta Pasztori, this concert was finished by Bartok's best student Tybor Serly, very nice interpretation by the pianist and also quite a good job by the orchestra

  • An outstanding performance!

M.A. great as usual, but what a very good Orchestra!

MARTHA ES LA MEJOR DEL MUNDO!

    XD

  • SHE - IS - THE - BEST !!! I saw her live twice, the first time in cortina (august 2007), playing Beethoven first piano concerto, and the second in Milano in March 2008, playing my favourite piano concerto , Prokofiev n° 3... absolutely amazing... she is an incredible person too ;-)
