  • I like how the ump gave him some extra time by dusting off home plate for a while.

    Miss watching you play Nomar!

  • Im a yankees fan and tbh im glad that both fanclubs (yanks sox) have a little class rather than that garbage going on with the 49ers/raiders

  • His he Crying?

  • only if he had his last aT bat as a red sox

  • Nomar Garciaparra was such a class act. I wish I would have been able to attend this game. I love how the official sweeps the plate a few more times after it's already clean to give him a moment he will never forget. A moment his fans will never forget.

  • Anyone who thinks Nomar took steroids is a classless idiot!

  • i was at this game

  • even Tek is claping!

  • @bosoxfan341 come on the were bought up form the minors together, they are freinds

  • Watch the umpire-he takes his time wiping off plate to give Nomar more time, asks if he's ready then gives the plate a final swipe-classy move

  • Is Nomar Retired?

  • @mlcmail1 Yes. since 2010 he become a comentarist of ESPN.

  • @mlcmail1 Yes he's retired, he sign with the red sox and retired, so he could have the last wish of retiring as a Red Sox.

Will never forget the Dynamic Duo Pranks of Nomar and Pedro.

Still got the picture of Nomar duct taping Pedro to a post.

  • i still keep going back to this video and watching this, im glad he retired as a member of the boston red sox. What i loved was when the ump walked to home plate and cleaned it to give nomah time to enjoy the moment

  • what a great player he was. We may never have another short stop as good as him...

  • Nomar and Pedro will always be my favorite players.

  • Second player I actaully loved, behind just the great Ripkin Jr. Class act.

  • Nomar is the reason I'm so into baseball and the Red Sox.

  • great moment ....just great moment that i wish i got to experiience live

  • a class act his entire career. welcome home to Boston, Nomar

  • No-mah was a bum.

  • @timgotta

Shortstop that hit .313/.361/.521 and played above average defense. Yeah, what a bum.

  • Just another reason why I love baseball as much as I do.

  • If you can watch this video without holding back a tear, you were never a Nomar fan...such a special moment from a special player. We'll always remember your great moments, Nomar, thanks for everything!

  • I couldn't agree more!

  • @fenwayfan29 one thing i dont get. WHY DID THEY GIVE HIM AWAY

  • @fenwayfan29 like i am a yankee fan and i loved watching this guy and jeter go at it. It was fun. He is the only red sox i like. He never talked trash but why did they get rid of him

  • @MyYankees19 Because he was a baby malcontent, clubhouse cancer.

  • @fenwayfan29 I wasnt even a fan back then but getting to know the history, I shed a tear now. He really loved the Sox.

  • Im a Dodger fan and all I have to say is.. Boston you guys have class.

  • thank you nomar for all the dodger memories.... great athlete!

  • juiced

  • @rackers he wasn't juiced you fucking idiot

  • yeah EveryonesHero, fuck theo epstein for the getting the sox a ring. make that two. idiot...

  • One of the greatest Sox ever, good career Nomar

  • He will become a Hall of famer

  • Close, but I don't think he should be in. Nomah was awesome in his prime, but his career was pretty short (yes, he played 14 seasons, but he only played 1,434 games). Also, he needed a few more good seasons IMO

  • @alx2925 pray for it man we can only hope

  • hes retiring a sox

  • He will become a Hall of famer

  • well Nomar you had a great career we'll miss you

  • Nomar was the Man FUck Theo Epstien

  • After the trade, though, he had only one really good season (2006, in which he missed some time). He struggled to stay healthy

  • Nomar was great. Also, it's a shame John Valentin's career was rather short, and struggled with injuries.

  • @EeVvAaNn3 I agree. But Valentin turned into a bit of a baby when Nomar came into town and took his position.

  • my favorite red sox player i was alive to see play

  • I was at that game, it was awesome. Sent chills down my spine

  • i remember nomar. I bought his jersey when i was young for Red Sox day at school. About five months later he left the sox... no need for a false $60 dollar jersey.

  • i wish nomar came back 2 boston.

  • Why doesnt he change his jersey number back to #5 since Holliday was traded

  • "If you don't like Nomah, I will drawp you like Dahwn Zimmah!"

  • Thank you, Nomar

  • i love u nomar. screw all of u people that dont like him.

    Go Sox!!!!

  • Nomar was the best this has to be a one the best return moments in sports

Go Sox 4 Ever NOMAR 4 Ever

  • oh and alsofor the people making comments about damon being booed he said in interviews while with the sox that he would never play for the yankees and became a greedy bastard and took the money...clemens, perdo martinez, kevin millar, derek lowe and trot nixon all recieved standing o's in their returns to fenway as well

  • didnt clemens leave the sox for the yankees though? or did he go to another team

  • Clemens went to Toronto for a few years, then to the Yankees

  • got a lil chocked up when i watched this game.Nomar was the first player to make me love the game .the man is a class act and is still respected for what he did in his time in boston and i really hope that someway somehow he ends his career here

  • I am so annoyed at this video. Not because of you.lol but because I was at game 2 and it was the only game Nomar didn't play. I missed him:(

  • Bummer!

  • I do to, Idk why this was marked as spam

  • by the way, very good quality video!

  • Thanks

  • i was at his homecoming at dodgers stadium about a month ago...it was a mix of cheers and boo's but mainly boo's...i felt bad for the guy because he loved LA! if it wasn't for injuries who know what kind of number he would have put up at the end of his career..

  • and i was at the game as well. The sox completely ate balls but this was my highlight of the night either way. great to be a part of it

  • johnny damon was also a completely different story. when he was with the red sox, he swore in an interview that the only team hed never play for was the yankees. then like every other player in the mlb he fell for the money and lost a nation worth of fans.

  • His first game back in LA wasalmost a month ago. The way Dodger fans booed him, was a moment where I felt embarassed to be a Dodger fan. The guy was a class act the 3 years he was with us, playing in his home town! He gave us some great moments, his walkoff to win the game where they hit 4 HRS in a row! great moment! He didnt want to leave, the oragnization didnt want him anymore. I was cheering his whole atbat wearing my #5 jersey! Too bad his once hall of fame career was plagued with injuries!

  • wo they cheer for this guy even though he is with oakland but if he was on the yankees they would be booing hin just like they do with johnny damon

  • That's right. If you don't understand the difference then you are not even close to being a Red Sox fan

  • It's great that you can see Tek applauding as well. Nomar is gonna be Boston legend forever--I fell in love with the Sox watching him play when I was 9 years old.

  • FAKE!

  • Fake?! Who the hell are you kidding?! The Fenway faithful appluaded ROGER CLEMENS in his last outing at Fenway... IN PINSTRIPES!!!! And you call that Fake?! Get a life, Greg Johnson, or go to hell.

  • It's CGI! This isn't someone who was live at the game. This video came from Hollywood! That's what I'm calling fake, dude!!! Don't tell me to go to hell! You're a fake! I'm a bigger Red Sox fan than you are! You don't even know anything about the Red Sox at all! I bleed Red Sox RED!!!! Nation tats on my triceps, playah!!! You can't even contend. Clemens? Fallback with that...I'm sitting with John Henry right now (I'm a top Sox exec) and he says your whack. Fallback...

  • Ill show u my ticket if i have to!

  • You're pathetic.. first of all, no Sox fan would put "nyc" in their name... second of all, I watched it live on NESN, and have plenty of friends who were there.

You're mad that the Yankees "faithful" have no class, and that their rival's fans still respect the players who wore their uniforms.

  • The difference with Johnny Damon was that he claimed he would never leave the Sox for the Yankees on several occasions. Then, when the opportunity arose, the guy bolted. No loyalty. Nomar was traded and had no say in it really. He even recently said that he always felt he would end his career in Boston and he still feels that way. Loyalty is a two-way street.

  • iwent to this game it was pure amazing

  • Sure was

  • can't compare the Damon situation to Nomar's....and even when that cheating piece of s*** Clemens pitched what might be his last appearrance at Fenway he was cheered....smart fans, accept it

  • lol 0:54 hahahahaha

  • Boston, you some very classy fans. Great job showing Nomar the respect he deserves.

    -Sincerely,

    A Tigers Fan

  • lol thanks. we arent called the fenway faithful for nothin lol

  • haha yea unless they go to a rival team.... ahem johnny D. youtube vid: WugjgK6xbB0

    I love boston :)

  • hey, johnny did that to himself by shaving and cutting off the mop!! i wasn't a johnny damon fan, i was a jesus damon fan!!

the second he goes back to the mountains and morphs back into Grizzley Adams, I'll be the first in line to applaud!!

  • Coming from another Tigers fan, this was a great gesture. Glad he got a great ovation from you guys. I hate the people who said they have a problem with it, I don't. Neither should they.
