Nomar Garciaparra was such a class act. I wish I would have been able to attend this game. I love how the official sweeps the plate a few more times after it's already clean to give him a moment he will never forget. A moment his fans will never forget.
i still keep going back to this video and watching this, im glad he retired as a member of the boston red sox. What i loved was when the ump walked to home plate and cleaned it to give nomah time to enjoy the moment
If you can watch this video without holding back a tear, you were never a Nomar fan...such a special moment from a special player. We'll always remember your great moments, Nomar, thanks for everything!
@fenwayfan29 like i am a yankee fan and i loved watching this guy and jeter go at it. It was fun. He is the only red sox i like. He never talked trash but why did they get rid of him
Close, but I don't think he should be in. Nomah was awesome in his prime, but his career was pretty short (yes, he played 14 seasons, but he only played 1,434 games). Also, he needed a few more good seasons IMO
i remember nomar. I bought his jersey when i was young for Red Sox day at school. About five months later he left the sox... no need for a false $60 dollar jersey.
oh and alsofor the people making comments about damon being booed he said in interviews while with the sox that he would never play for the yankees and became a greedy bastard and took the money...clemens, perdo martinez, kevin millar, derek lowe and trot nixon all recieved standing o's in their returns to fenway as well
got a lil chocked up when i watched this game.Nomar was the first player to make me love the game .the man is a class act and is still respected for what he did in his time in boston and i really hope that someway somehow he ends his career here
i was at his homecoming at dodgers stadium about a month ago...it was a mix of cheers and boo's but mainly boo's...i felt bad for the guy because he loved LA! if it wasn't for injuries who know what kind of number he would have put up at the end of his career..
johnny damon was also a completely different story. when he was with the red sox, he swore in an interview that the only team hed never play for was the yankees. then like every other player in the mlb he fell for the money and lost a nation worth of fans.
His first game back in LA wasalmost a month ago. The way Dodger fans booed him, was a moment where I felt embarassed to be a Dodger fan. The guy was a class act the 3 years he was with us, playing in his home town! He gave us some great moments, his walkoff to win the game where they hit 4 HRS in a row! great moment! He didnt want to leave, the oragnization didnt want him anymore. I was cheering his whole atbat wearing my #5 jersey! Too bad his once hall of fame career was plagued with injuries!
It's great that you can see Tek applauding as well. Nomar is gonna be Boston legend forever--I fell in love with the Sox watching him play when I was 9 years old.
Fake?! Who the hell are you kidding?! The Fenway faithful appluaded ROGER CLEMENS in his last outing at Fenway... IN PINSTRIPES!!!! And you call that Fake?! Get a life, Greg Johnson, or go to hell.
It's CGI! This isn't someone who was live at the game. This video came from Hollywood! That's what I'm calling fake, dude!!! Don't tell me to go to hell! You're a fake! I'm a bigger Red Sox fan than you are! You don't even know anything about the Red Sox at all! I bleed Red Sox RED!!!! Nation tats on my triceps, playah!!! You can't even contend. Clemens? Fallback with that...I'm sitting with John Henry right now (I'm a top Sox exec) and he says your whack. Fallback...
You're pathetic.. first of all, no Sox fan would put "nyc" in their name... second of all, I watched it live on NESN, and have plenty of friends who were there.
You're mad that the Yankees "faithful" have no class, and that their rival's fans still respect the players who wore their uniforms.
The difference with Johnny Damon was that he claimed he would never leave the Sox for the Yankees on several occasions. Then, when the opportunity arose, the guy bolted. No loyalty. Nomar was traded and had no say in it really. He even recently said that he always felt he would end his career in Boston and he still feels that way. Loyalty is a two-way street.
can't compare the Damon situation to Nomar's....and even when that cheating piece of s*** Clemens pitched what might be his last appearrance at Fenway he was cheered....smart fans, accept it
Coming from another Tigers fan, this was a great gesture. Glad he got a great ovation from you guys. I hate the people who said they have a problem with it, I don't. Neither should they.
I like how the ump gave him some extra time by dusting off home plate for a while.
Miss watching you play Nomar!

Is Nomar Retired?
mlcmail1 10 months ago
@mlcmail1 Yes. since 2010 he become a comentarist of ESPN.
reiny65 9 months ago
@mlcmail1 Yes he's retired, he sign with the red sox and retired, so he could have the last wish of retiring as a Red Sox.
Will never forget the Dynamic Duo Pranks of Nomar and Pedro.
Still got the picture of Nomar duct taping Pedro to a post.

Nomar was great. Also, it's a shame John Valentin's career was rather short, and struggled with injuries.

@EeVvAaNn3 I agree. But Valentin turned into a bit of a baby when Nomar came into town and took his position.
