In the old days dlc used to just be a patch which devs gave out as a kind of loyalty reward.

Here's the thing about DLC - developers will only abuse it if there are "easy" customers to get to. If you don't like DLC, then don't support DLC.

DLC is rarely anything very special, its usually just some new maps and (barely) alternate modes of play, I know 2 games with DLC that ACTUALLY enhanced my play experience or actually changed the game I was playing to some great deal - Metal Gear Online, and Red Dead Redemption. Why people pay for 4-5 new maps is beyond me.

Treyarch gave free map packs in the past, and they were better than First Strike.. COD-4, even Halo they all used to get free DLC in the past as a tribute to sucess. now, we buy the games, and we have to pay more for DLC? FUCK THAT!

I loved Black Ops, suprisingly. MW2 was a nightmare for me :(

I never purchased ANY dlc from WaW or MW2 - none of it seemed like a worhtwhile investment. I got CoD4's Variety Map Pack because I knew I was going to enjoy it. First Strike looks cool, but 1200 ms points is a steep bargain. I might buy it a year or two from now or when there's a discount for it, or if they drop the price by themselves. I bought the Variety Map Pack at half price (400 points) one weekend

I like the concept if it was done right but too many developers are creating games then cutting a bit if not half out of the finished product so they can sell it to you later as DLC.
