When I was really little my parents took me to the Haunted Mansion and I was scared to death before we got on the ride. I told my parents I didn't want to go on and a cast member kindly took us through the exit. The cast members at Disneyland are very nice and they are truly nice people.
When I was a child I was much less frightened of the haunted mansion than I was of The Snow White Ride! I think I am still scarred from the crazy witch offering me a poisoned apple at every turn!
Lol, speaking of getting scared, I remember when I was, like, eight and during a Hercules parade one of the Hydra's heads snapped RIGHT IN MY FACE!!! I was freaking bawling!
omg haunted houses with people jumping in front of you are so f*****g scary, I can't go in there or I'll come out with hands and knees shaking so bad I need to sit down.... I can understand she didn't enter.... :D
Haha she's much better in explaining haunted houses then my uncle.. In holland we have an haunted house called Spookslot. When I just convinced myself i wanted to go in, he scared the crap out of me =O .. didn't dare going in for 6 years....
when I was little i was afraid of The Voyage Of The Little Mermaid, I was afraid of Ursula..and I remember a cast member explaining she only comes on for a little bit during the show, and that there is nothing to be afraid of.
I actually don't know why I was so afraid, because I love Ursula and all the Disney villains now.
and I don't ever recall being afraid of the Haunted Mansion. only the beginning
@WDW3105 You can be from any place in the world and work in a Disney theme park. There are actually a lot of people working there from places like England and France even in Florida.
@theaudreyhepburngirl uhmm...I don't know the exact details on that type of stuff, but I have herd many times that Disney is a very easy place to get to work for even if your are from a different country so it might not be that hard to get if you do have to. But I never worked there so I would not be the best person to ask. Sorry.
Now that's the way a cast member should be. Uncle Walt would be proud. Poor little girl still didn't want any part of it...lol. When she finally does go in it, she'll love it like everyone else.
This ride has so bad like it wasn't scary at all but when I went on it ( u know the part where the lights go out? ) well that happened an like all of the girls right beside me screamed there heads off INTO MY EAR!!!!
It's good that the butlers and maids outside of the mansion are friendlier than inside... or else no child would want to get near the spooky mansion :)
@ajviapc my family loves scary rides and on my 4th b day I was at MGM ( hollywood studios ) I went on TOT and I was not scared and after that we went to mk and rode hm. I actually was 3 turning 4 and my parents did not know anything about TOT they were scared.
this is so cute. I had the same experience when I was about that age. Maybe a little older, I would have been 6 in 1973. I remember getting as far as the entrance to the stretching room with my dad carrying me in his arms and one of the cast members explained how there are some areas of considerable darkness in the ride. That's all I needed to hear and I didn't want to go in. So my dad took me outside. I didn't get another chance to go on it until I was 16 years old.
I once went to the Haunted Mansion at tokyo Disneyland at the later shift near closing time and all the japanese cast members were all being really creepy like literally they had the cast members glare you down to the seats. lol
Haha why the hell are the Haunted Mansion Employees that nice to me when im about to go on the ride. They're acting fucking spooky and giving me the evil stare down
@ajviapc ru kidding me! 12? Yeah so I live 12 years of my life and dont ride mansion? NO WAY! I loved this ride as a lil kid...it just depends on the kid...this little girl was sweet and i like that she was able to speak up about how she felt and she didnt wait till they were already inside
@mtakenM I went on it when I was 3 and was fine, but every kid is just different. A couple years ago my family went with another family and they had a 5 year old with them (to Disney World) He went on Dinosuar and was perfectly fine! I was freaked out on that ride. The next day we went on the Haunted Mansion and he hardly talked the rest of the night because he was so scared, which is crazy because he's the most energetic kid I've ever seen. So yeah, completley depends :p
@ajviapc my mom forced me to go on that ride when i was 6. i was terrified, till i actually went in, and then i loved it. i went on it again 6 times in a row
@ajviapc Of course it is. It's for all ages. I went on it when I was four, and was never bothered. We just have a spineless society now that thinks we need to bubble-wrap children.
@ajviapc Actually, the first time I went on, I was 7 and the only thing that scared me was the stretching room. According to my parents, I screamed (but I don't believe this since I've never been a screamer, at least not from fear). The rest of the ride wasn't too bad.
I am convinced to go on the ride and I'm 24.

how is this not for children under 12?
under 7, maybe. but I think an 8-year-old has the cognitive capabilities to understand that this is just a ride....
