Honestly, this version of the song is far better than the original only because the accompaniment of the other instruments, the only reason I say that is because I play acoustic and the acoustic sometimes just cannot stand up to the mood that violin and cello can create, to me this version has an atmosphere which is post prevalent at 2:14 on, it places my mind in a completely different place every time I hear it. That truly is excellence at its finest in musical form.
@Blackmaclecter187 Each one is entitled to his own opinion, but nothing can be better than the original song! This version lacks the pungency of the original. It's still beautiful, but can't ever be better! My humble opinion of course.

My god, the song played by Carlos Paredes magical fingers in Portuguese Guitar is sad enough but with the weeping violins it's a funeral march ;-)
