I lived in Switzerland when Mireille came on the scene and 45 years later I still adore her songs. I've lived here in California since 1966 and regret the times I missed her music. There was a time when foreign music (records back then) were hard to near impossible to find. Now I THANK those who post on youtube!!! Merci mille fois!!!

The nice thing about her voice, is that it has a very nice range and she uses it. A much wider range than Piaf in my opinion.

@petitfauvette Come on now - the difference in voice range between Edith and Mireille is like comparing the width of the English Channel(Edith) to that of the Atlantic Ocean(Mireille). In other words the difference is so great that they cannot realistically be compared.

Fantastic song I just discovered....the frenchmen really could ballads in those days. Reminds me a bit of the great Edith Piaf :) This song was in the preselection of the french national final for eurovision song contest :)

Besides the fact of Mireille being the "chosen one" after Edith Piaf's passing, I do not see the resemblance in the voice. Each one of them have a very distinctive voice. At the beginning of her career, Mireille's style was similar to that of Edith's, but the voice of Piaf is a little deepper so I do not see (hear) why the confusion. When she sang in that competition at 19 years...some people phoned at the redaction of the emission and asked if that was her voice or a recording of Piaf.OMG!To confuse Mimi with Piaf that means a bad musical "ear".
