these are individual frames strung together in post. I have a GH1 too... you can't get over half a second shutter in video mode... this is 10 seconds per exposure!
@milapse great time lapse series ,did you use a seperate timer ? or is there an in camera setting.i am searching the GH1 info ,do you know if the GH1 can do auto time lapse exposures. should i be looking for a seperate cable release like the canon ? many thanks neil
I guess so... ? the panasonics are a little strange in the fact that they are looking for a resistor inline (rather than a closed loop) and a 4 pole pin. If it has a mini jack plug you should be good to go.
Nice, really like the dissolve between day & night, seamless... and the 10sec night exp. looks great, the blur adds to smoothing out the timelapse nicely... good to hear that my Bolex lenses will come into their own when I finally get my hands on a GH1 :-0
very cool. Is this an HDR timelapse? I'm also curious, where you shooting at a constant exposure or was that being changed, like say when the blue sky melts away to the starry night with the tree in the foreground?
Thanks, no hdr here... The camera is capable but I wish it did bigger steps (2/3ev max). This is all shot manual the transitions are handled in post (simple fade). Ol timelapse trick.
I really really like this video with the stars coming out. I had never thought about hooking up a c-mount lens to a m4/3's body. Is there any vignetting with this setup? If not I bet these lenses will suddenly start selling for a lot more(or in the very least, harder to come by) when the HD video version of this camera comes out.
You always seem to be a step ahead of everyone with your stuff.
Nevertheless, I'm cheap and always looking for the biggest bang for the buck. This combo was a little under $800.. I don't see that as extravagant, like say a 5dii and 24mm F1.4 = $4500!
This was magical! I especially liked the bit where the stars where seen moving in one direction while wisps of clouds where moving the opposite way. Great sound track gave it atmosphere.
Thanks a lot for the quick reply.. I've been thinking if I could wait 'til June for the GH1.. But my instincts tell me to take the D90 instead.. I've been planning to pair them with Zeiss lenses. Cheers!
Actually not video cameras... 16mm film cameras! The cool thing is the G1 via an adapter can get fit and get the correct registration with these vintage lenses.
That's cool. I knew that C mount lenses are for 16mm film, but they're also widely available and used for CCTV cameras. Pentax and Tamron are two manufacturers that I can think of off the top of my head.
I think I'm going to cry...I LOVE THIS CAM :p

you'll need an external interval timer.. just search ebay for "GH1 timer" or "G1 timer" - strangely enough Panasonic does not make one...

C-mount? How do you accomplish that, I thought those were for video cameras?

Oh yes that's true, but remember many of those particular lenses were made for 1/3" and 2/3" sensors... very small image circle.
milapse 2 years ago
so even though the threads are the same, the image circle would be too small? Interesting.
starlite528 2 years ago
oh yes. the c-mount is universal but the image circle varies quite a bit from lens to lens even in the 16mm film world.
