  • Today is a windy Wednesday, and I happen to order a Santa wig and beard today! If only it were winter, as well!

  • omg i remember this!!!- nice aliteration

  • the narrator sounds like ethel merman

  • I would have sworn the narrator was Tammy Grimes, except I read a 2007 interview where she said "I always had a great desire to be on Sesame Street." So presumably she wasn't.

  • Holy C--p! The cackling witch towards the end Still scares me!

  • I just noticed for the 1st time evah that the spokes on the "wheel" were W's!

  • Scared me as a kid.

  • Me too!!

  • I remember after this Carol Burnett said " wanda the witch is weird ".

  • @whitewitchoz I remember that too.

  • love it!

  • OMG I remember this. Late December '69 snowing outside nothing on TV except PBS S.S. I had just turned 6.

  • funny memories from Sesame St the 70s. i had to find this. I often think of it heheh

  • November is the MIDDLE of WINTER?!

Just being a pain...it was great watching this. We had the best shows in the 70's and 80's.

  • I've always loved this sketch and the simple way it was animated. It scared me a little, but I always thought it was cool because of the rhyming.

  • the weasel had pretty cat like eyes...the witches were bald? and the washtub is a cauldron..

i really loved this- never saw it till now, but wow-neat-

i'd like to see the nancy the nannygoat everyone seems to remember but me, and i'm 39!!! i was literally raised on old SS...

  • Oh my --- seems like only yesterday. What a treat to find this! Thank you!

  • This, like the "Nancy the Nannygoat" sketch is from, I believe, the very first season of S.

    S. Those early animations and Muppet routines were the best!

  • I take it that this clip has the same narrator as 'Nancy the Nannygoat.' I might vaguely remember this, though the 'Nancy' clip (both lyrics and music) seems to 'stick out' in my memory more.

  • i never expected to see this again..absolute highlight of my childhood lol

  • @Triniguy412 me too!

  • Seems Wanda the Witch was ahead of the times, having a pet weasel long before the rest of us!!

  • I loved this bit when I was little, and I still have the VHS tape too. Wanda's laugh at the end is hilarious, and the story teller's voice is about as unique as Eartha Kitt's.

  • God, it's like being transported straight back to my childhood

  • I remembered this story! Never thought I was going to see this again. "I am a weasel!"

  • Classic weird story, and I love it! You don't see 'em like that anymore!

  • I remember watching this when I was little and being scared of the part at the end when she cackles. Ah, to be young again and have such little worries!

  • The cackle used to give me the creeps, too. The whole thing did, really. Now it just seems really cute.

  • I remember loving this when I was young and quoting it word for word. Especially the part about 'The wild wind whipped the wig from her hand and blew it away forevah!'

  • Funny scary and educational. I cant decide whether im happy i saw this again or not lol!!

  • The voice sounds like Vivian Leigh.

  • At 0:30 you'll see the month of November. November is NOT a winter month. December is.

  • I thought that when I saw it, before I saw this comment.

  • It is if you live in a cold enough climate, like up in Fairbanks, Alaska. There, winter is from mid-October through mid-April.

  • I think though this cartoon is wonderful, that Witches' are represented unfairly. They're always typically nasty looking, in this case bald and with warts <-- hey, another W word. :P

  • "i AM A WEASEL"

  • i love it when she says, "and blew it away .. forever!"

  • nope - "and blew it away forevahhh"

  • Yep, that's a lesson I have never forgoteen for close to 40 years now: Witches who wash their wigs on windy wintry wednesdays.... are wacky!

  • boy oh boy you can find virtually anything on the youtube! thanks for this!

  • W is for Wanda, Witch, West, Washington and Watergate.

  • Animated by Tee Collins, I think.

  • Tee Collins was my grandfather

  • How about that.

  • the front right witch somehow has her face behind the washtub

  • The wig flying away in the wind!!!!!!! I remember this like it was yesterday! Haven't seen this in ages!!!!!!!

  • I remember this after almost 40 years! patybear

  • Yep. Still scary. After 40 years and I still want to shit my heart out *giggle* ;o)

  • The voice sounds like Vivien Leigh

  • Ever noticed the mistake when they showed the calendar, its November, November is in fall not winter. Although in Colorado it has snowed in Nov. But the calendar should have said Jan., or Feb, or Dec. A winter month not a fall one!! Other than that good story!!

  • I love that weasle.

  • Loved that story! One time after that sketch, Carol Burnett made a comment about Wanda the Witch.

  • i prefer the shaved head over the wig anyway.

  • One of the jazzier soundtracks. The "D" Dart one is really cool too.

  • I cant believe that after over 30 yrs I can still recite most of the words.

  • You too, eh? Love this bit.

  • Forgot totally about this one! I still remembered the "blew it away forever" part!

  • This scared teh crap outta me when I was little. When her wig comes off and she kackles..yikes!

  • Man, this always scared the hell out me when I was a little kid too. It actually still gives me chills now. Funny thing is, at the time I never recognized it was a jazz soundtrack to the whole thing. I had no idea it was Chick Corea.

  • I loved Sesame Street so much...although there were cartoons or clips on the show that gave me nightmares.

This was one of them O_O

  • Wanda was always my fav- wacky!!!

  • It just doesn't get any better than Wanda the wicked witch!! Thank you!!!

  • This was the coolest surprise ever. I haven't seen this clip for 30 years and this was great. You have to love the dramatic, "And blew it away forever!"

  • Anyone notice the similarity between this and "Nancy the Nannygoat?" I just figured that out now, and didn't realize it 30 years ago when I originally saw this stuff!

  • Yeah, I have always thought that there is some likeness between the two.

  • Wow. Wonderfully wacky. Wrings wack wemories. :)

  • One of my all-time favs from Sesame. Sesame was the best back in those days. I remember that originally Carol Burnett would come out at the end dressed like the good fairy and would say "Wanda the Witch sure is weird". Does anyone else remember this?

  • The background music sounds a lot like Miles Davis Bitches Brew era.

  • OYE! Try this again... The music is provided by the talents of Chic Coreau, the animation spot was done by my Animation Mentor, Tee Collins who also did Nancy the Nanny Goat... :)

  • Assume you mean Chick Corea? ;-)

A shame it's so hard to find information like that.

  • Wow! I haven't seen this in about 37 years! Thank you so much!

  • I always remembered wanda washing her wig on wind winter wednesdays - but i see she did some other things that day also.....

  • I'D FORGOTTEN! I LOVED this! I'm such a spaz with my comments, but it's so fun seeing all this again!

  • W is for "Who's the lucky guy with an Episode One

tape"?...seriously though, this clip was one of

my favorites when I was young enough to watch

Sesame Street without getting picked on or

embarrassing the rest of my family.

  • "I'M A WEASEL!"

    you tell 'em!

  • "....and blew it away 4evah!" PRICELESS!

  • A weasel that looks like a cat....RIGHT!!!

  • oh god, who has the "w - for wilhemina" skit???

  • Wouldn't surprise me if this skit was made by the same crew who did Nancy the Nannygoat.

  • I remember this! :D
