While its true my 98 Jeep is 12 years old already, my engine is 2-3x more powerfull, and it being a limited i have power everything, heated, leather, sunroof. Computer, 10 speakers, not much has changed in 12 years as far as goodies, besides Nav screens and a updated OBD computer.. So who's getting the better deal here ? Of course 12 years old could mean more mechanical problems, but i have none. So think about it....

I spent $4,000 for a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 5.9 V8 limited. I get 13mpg average city and 17-20mpg freeway.. Sucks yea... but guess what i spend $150-250 a month on gas depending if i im doing freeway or city driving more. That means im spending $2400 a year average on gas. While treehuggers are spending $400-500 a month on a carpayment, and with 36mpg about $86 a month on gas. That means your spending $6432 a YEAR, after 6-7 years your spending $45k, im spending $13k

This is why i dont like 4 cylinder engines/hybrids, they get great gas mileage yea, and i would love to be getting 30-40mpg but TBH a new car payment... having to pay off $30-40k for a hybrid or normal car just to say hey look at my gas mileage is kinda pointless. I dont understand why people think saving $1300-1500 a year in gas is something to proud of when you spending $4800 a year +$1000 on a car payment and gas.. Look up on google where Al gore talked about him lying about alot of stuff just so he could get elected President that and he had alot of friends who grow corn. He said that Ethanol sucks basicly and it does. It lowers gas mileage by as much as 20-30% in some vehicles.

About as fast as my dohc Taurus (8 ish seconds to 60) I wouldn't mind getting this car at all. can the hybrid come with AWD? I would take the mileage hit gladly in Michigan winters and living off of a dirt road that never gets plowed.

The Fusion is about the fastest hybrid out there. I'm not a fan of Ford (at all) but I seriously considered this car for my wife. It's a truly amazing combination of technology and performance. Its a lot faster than the Civic Hybrid, the Prius or the Insight.

It's sort of the same setup most snowmobiles come with, a variator (or CVT) transmission has no gears, only a set of pulleys that change their ratio to make the car go faster while keeping the car at the rpm with the most power output.
