@paradox, so do you study okinawan shorin ryu for my orange and blue belt we learned the nihanchi katas. and our blue belts are before our green. Our sensei teaches us the katas on the belt levels not all at once because he wants you to be able to master the movements and the concepts that go along with we learn the bunkai with the katas..so mon/tues and are kata days and wedn/thurs are applications..or bunkai and fight days...it really helps us to see what we are supposed to be doing
in my dojo ive learned all of these katas but im still a yellow belt, my sensei says he wants his students to be comfortable with the katas so he teaches us in advance, when i do test with sandan and Godan i wont get a green belt just a green strip, our green blets need to know Itosu Passai and Naihanchin nidan along with oyes bonkai Naihanchin shodan
i am watching this because i just learned pinan shodan today and i have to learn yondan and godan for my green belt. I study under kyoshi Frank Hargrove and he's the best...i always come on here when i practice at home..
Thank you for posting! I come from a Shito-Ryu back ground and just recently began training Shorin-Ryu. This is a great help when fine tuning the differences in stances and application of technique. Well done!
Very well done, Thank you. I appreciate that all 5 were performed continuosly (to show the progression) it is so important in understanding the movements.
@kellaayyy13 Thank you. In mainland Shodan and Nidan were changed by Funakoshi Sensei. But, in all Okinawan Systems of Shorin Ryu, the original order is used, as in this video.
As someone who practices shinjinbukan i can really appreciate each movement!

Looking from a Shotokan perspective, this is a fascinating video. It was very nice to see all 5 in one go.
Excellent technique, btw. Very well connected to the ground.

Nice job, but isn't shodan and niidan mixed up? you did niidan first instead of shodan
