  • Great i did the same. but what we need is snap manager server to this job. VDI is good solution to overcome Citrix. i think it have power to convince user using VDI insted of Citrix. I wonder is this VDI client is available on thin clients?

  • The VDI implementation supports several remote client protocols such as RDP which are common to thin client systems. You can check the VMware web site for a list of thin client partners. On snap manager, the utility is not generally available. If you are interested in building an EMC-based Virtual Desktop implementation, you should contact your EMC technical services representative, who can provide you with the tools and assistance you need.

  • On additional space, each virtual machine will require some additional space for the windows page file and new writes to the local drive or virtual disk. You need to plan for page file sizing which depends on the memory you allocated and the applications running. The page file should be no less than 100MB. Celerra lets you configure the storage based on your expectations, but lets you automatically extend as needs change. So you won't over allocate storage for each virtual desktop system.

  • This functionality is part of the Celerra architecture which offers disk space efficiencies when using virtually provisioned iSCSI snapshots. There is no tool required. Virtually provisioned snaps are a configurable option on the Celerra Data Movers.

  • What tool or product did you use to only use 32k per Virtual Machine. What is the standard or best practice for how much additional space one needs for user data, patches, or other updates to the VM's?
