hey guys just found out why some of you are getting the error when using the text when u cant use the knife tool.

dont use mograph text!

use normal text and add extrude NURBS

after that make it editable and bobs you uncle ;) haha

Hey, great tutorial. I have two questions...What if you put a collision detection tag or something of the nature so your polygons don't go through each other and just bounce off each other, would that work? and also what about extruding the polygons to add a little depth to them?

i think everybody would agree that a tutorial on cutting TEXT would be more useful. When you connect and make text editable, it breaks it down into a parent with like 3 children (PER LETTER) and whenever I try to use the knife tool it 1) doesnt work and 2) the random effector makes the letter disappear (even when it is at 0%). I followed this tutorial to the DIME on an object and it worked, but with text? not so much.

select the PolyFX and THEN add the random effector.

If you knife tool does not work then you need to select the object and hit C on your keyboard which make the object editable. Like this so everyone can see :D

It is a really cool tut but the second part is not :( i am just a beginner and suddenly you use a different program and i just wand to make my logo as you had in the first part and not the second :( and now i cant finish it because i don't know anything about the camera and rendering moving stuff... Whit the text i cant use the knife there ist the opcion.... and i do it editable, the poligonic stuff too... and nothing, it doesn´t let me cut the text could you show how to do it to a text not to a cube, youtube is full of cubes and there isn´t nothing about the text...

And if i make first the text and i use the NURB or whatever i can knife the text but only the part above and i cant do it with the front part... sorry about the english.

anyone worrying about the knife tool working.. one of the most common errors is making the text editable.. you have to make sure you make the whole extrude nurbs editable!

@YeahImDeadly you need the mo graph2 module, it depends on what version of cinema 4d 11.5 you have. obviously the more money you spend the more modules you get.
