Somehow, if you're all alone this is very depressing song, and that perfect day seems so unreachable, but if you have someone then this song has some other meaning and day really can be perfect. It's very depressing for me, and I'm okay with that, and also, I knew this song before watching Trainspotting where this song fits perfectly.

1) Lou Reed is a songwriting legend so don't let one little polarizing collaboration album ruin your opinion of his entire discography.

2) I believe you meant "trash" (even though I don't think Lulu is trash at all). It wouldn't make sense for you to complain about making them sound like thrash since the main complaint about Metallica's later work is that they're not 100% thrash anymore.
