Yes, popular media in America is dreadful, but there are some gems here too. Don't judge things before you try them. Watch something like Psych or the Big Bang Theory, or if you like Mighty Boosh humor maybe try some Adult Swim shows, like Futurama, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, or Family Guy.
