most good deep cranking sticks are 7ft6 or longer ... you need the rod length to get that bait out there ... the longer the cast the more you can keep your bait deep ...
the main reason he is using such long ass rods is because he is casting very far distances, a long rod gives him the leverage he needs to do that. a long cast allows him enough time to get the bait down deep where the fish were at. also, a long rod gives him leverage to get a good hook set at long distances. DAMN i explained the shit out of that too much i think
