0:00 is my response to this video, 0:07 is class A reponse!!!! 0:11 is hilarious!!!! 1:06 gets serious, 1:15 gets intense, and finally at 2:29 "Yep, Come inside."
@@@ YouTube user CJHughesRTR... You was very brave for filing this tornado on video. Yikes !! made me nervous especially the part where it look like the storm could have barreled right directly towards you . Seriously.. I am glad you are okay.. Later and Peace Out !!
If I would have been able to stay safe and if I was in your position, I would have actually tried getting a little bit closer to it. I'm being serious, too.
@fjanos For weaker tornadoes like EF-0 to EF-2 a brick house would be pretty safe unless the roof caves in or a tree falls. But even brick or precast houses cannot withstand winds at almost 200 mph. At that speed, the brick siding becomes flying missiles.
@fjanos For a tornado that size, there is little above ground that is guaranteed to survive. Above ground, a reinforced cast concrete structure would be your best bet but again, not guaranteed. Conventionally built brick homes are pretty much guaranteed to fail, in fact I saw instances of brick homes stripped to their foundation by this very storm. The only thing guaranteed to survive a tornado of this size would be a well built underground structure. EF5 = winds > 200 mph (322 kph).
the "habital zone" of the Sun is slowly, but surely moving farther and farther out from the Sun, Earth will eventually be on the inner edge, then completely inhabital because of this unstoppable cycle of a stars life span
wanna chase tornadoes with us? we're a student group of storm spotters and Community Emergency Response Team members at UA. go to our website at uamswx.com or send us an email to bamaUAMS@gmail.com
What the FUCK were you doing? That is way too close. Next time stay inside or film from a safer distance. You only live once, don't lose it doing something stupid.
That is some crazy footage you got. What makes it so crazy, is that was a BIG ASS tornado and you stayed so calm. We lucked out in Texas this year with only a few bad storms....not so in your part of the world....Stay safe
ok i must say im a NY er and as manly as i am i would have fainted. that was too close. Alabama was in my prayers at that time. Good luck to your city.
I bet the reason why there were a lot of deaths, was because of people doing the same thing you did. Sat there and let it come to you when you are supposed to be seeking shelter. That's what the warnings are for.
This is probably a dumb question...But is that kind of thing a normal event in Alabama? (As in tornados that massive) And do you guys have like storm shelters or something? I'm looking at transferring to the university of alabama, but I've never even seen a tornado so I'm kinda super scared of them. Haha.
@JameliaBramoore this was the first tornado this massive we have ever had here in Tuscaloosa. We do get tornado warnnings sometimes,,but its never been anything like this. Some people who live in houses do have storm shelters..after this Im sure alot more people have had them installed.
Shoulda stood there the whole time it was clearly going to miss you i say you missed the best part of the footage really shoulda went to the other side of the building and got even closer, that woulda been a money shot
@IAmHurricaneStorm Maybe, but what if it had suddenly shifted and changed directions. As the uploader stated, that was way too close for comfort. All it can take is a split second for a tornado to shift directions and you could be right in the path, and may not realize it until it's too late. That's the exact reason spotters/chasers don't get *too* close to a tornado. Your life may be in extreme danger before you can realize or do anything about it.
@satanxhhhx Point well made.... which be why I let the professionals do the job of filming the tornado especially since many of the chasers have years of experience.
@satanxhhhx Good comment. I can see how such a sight could be almost mesmerizing, but I'm glad the spotter here kind of woke up in time and got inside even if the tornado did actually miss him. Even if it did there's always flying debris that could kill as well.
What apartments are these? I'm from Tuscaloosa and was at the hospital parking deck and got a very close and intense capture. Check my videos. Good shot though, man
You sir have balls.

@fjanos Just to give you an example of what an EF5 can do, this storm scoured pavement from the ground in places.
