How do you do your root touch ups? Your roots would grow in black right? And you bleached your hair to achieve this color... Would you bleach the roots and then dye it again? I'm asking cuz my hair is naturally dark too.

I've read other information as well that backs up the same process you used to achieve ash(cool) blond color from natural dark hair- it has to be bleached VERY light first, and then toned down to a cool shade(two-step process). Even the models photographed on the haircoloring kits have their hair bleached("stripped") first, before applying the shade of haircolor included in the box to show "true" color. Any one-step process lightening on black/dark brown hair will reveal red & "brassy" tones.

How does your hair not get brassy?

I bleached then dyed my hair ash brown (basically exactly the same color as your hair in this video, but a bit darker), and it faded away so quickly.. like, within 2 weeks it was not ash anymore and VERY brassy :(

Do you suggest anything? I loved my ash colour ;-;

try a purple shampoo. mine did get brassy after awhile too! so i kept redying. but that's bad for the hair. so i just ended up going dark again before the roots grew out lol

I bought the Shimmer Lights shampoo already, and used it twice. I haven't seen any results nor am I expecting them so quickly, but I'm wondering if it really will work on a long term..

Hey guys to undo your drying out. I HIGHLY recommend before washing you hair you're going to pre-poo treat your hair. Take your fav conditioner in a bowl (go heavy), mix in an oil or oils (extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil), apply root to tip, let sit for about 20 min (you can do this with a bonnet dryer too), then go and shampoo (2-3 x) and condition as usual. Repeat doing this in a week if its still dry. Hope to help.

yeah i used the same bleach but only for a minute or two and put the ash blonde dye over it. but i don't suggest that. you can try looking for a brow lightener instead.

Ohh jeezz, I'm a hairstylist k, never I repeat never leave bleach on your hair for more that 45 minutes, bleach and the 30 vol is a 1 to 2 ratio, ex 30 grams of bleach and 60 grams of your volume, never use a 40 volume. Don't buy drug store products and then professional products, also don't bleach your hair more than 3 levels the first time.

I just bleached my hair, but it did not bleach all the way. Some parts are dark and some are light? Could I re-bleach the parts that are still dark? I washed it all out and blow dried my hair. mix the bleach and developer according to the ratio in the instructions. and then leave it in your hair until your actual hair is a light orange/yellow color. Put in a dye that is dark ash blonde/ light ash brown. should give you the color i got :)

if you want a super light blonde then go for the blonde dye to begin with after you bleach but i wanted a dark dirty blonde with an ash tone so i did medium ash brown over the bleached hair.

So I then put the Revlon Colorsilk Light Ash Blonde on my hair exactly like you did. It came out ash like I wanted, no red/brassy tones. BUT I feel like mine is darker than yours. aw dear. i'm sorry to hear that. you should have used a medium ash brown color after you bleached, it would've given you an ash blonde after a few washes :( for now you should just baby your hair and let it rest :( and meanwhile i think you would do great on your audition because i'm sure you are beautiful the way you are now!!! have confidence and you can do it! good luck :)

no i just put the toner right in after i blow dried my newly bleached hair. if you have dark brown hair you might want to bleach twice. but if you are not looking for a really light color once should be okay. just use a hair color after that's a little darker like light ash brown to cover the bleached parts. and it will wash out a dark ash blonde.

Once your hair roots begin to show, will you have to repeat the bleaching, ultra light blonde, revlon frost then bleach again and color with the rev ash light brown? Or will you just need to do touch ups with the last color you put in? I'm considering going lighter but I need more details on the upkeep. Please share your experience. my roots are in the process of growing out. but i'm not sure if i wanna keep bleaching my hair since it is REALLY damaging. and the ash doesn't stay in hair that long. it turns yellow pretty fast. so i don't know if it's worth the time and the work. haha. for the time being though. i like the way it looks. i just hate how the roots are so black! ahhhhhh.
