  • A hot summer the smell of matt black paint on a hot engine and young ladies in short hippy skirts and big boots... fuck i'm 42, and i stil love this as much as the first time i heard it,Emma, i miss you

  • I´m going to see them live this summer ^^

    yeay ♥

  • wooow...

  • HEY NOW, HEY NOW NOW...:)) GREAT!!!!

  • This groove is a bliss!!

  • "Eldritch" horrors...

  • Andrew Eldritch's protestations of non-gothness are non-convincing. There are many reasons for this. But one of the most compelling is the fact that he changed his surname to fucking "Eldritch".

  • @Huggles4Everyone Hahaha! You have a point.

  • 1987 \m/

  • This makes even goths dance.

  • I got nothing to say I haven't said before...

  • you know, he looks a lot like Mat Smith (Dr. Who). Yum!

  • @71rewolf He really doesn't.

  • The Sisters have as much to do with goth as Nick Cave.

    Both are awesome.

    Goth is just silly.

    Nice vid BTW.

  • Good editing! They should pay you for this nice video version of the entire "This Corrosion".

  • Andrew Eldtrich

    Pete Steele

    Peter Murphy.....

Goth guys have the dreamiest voices.

  • @theyforcedmetosignup

Since the early 1990s, Eldritch has publicly rejected associations with the Goth subculture. He describes The Sisters of Mercy as humanist, modernist, and implies he wants nothing to do with Goth.

  • @anulafakes "Eldritch has publicly rejected associations with Goth subculture" yeah, except for, you know, taking all the goth kids' money when they buy his albums and band shirts.

  • HEY RICH!!!

Your brother and I want to talk to you!!

  • 10mins long and still too short!

  • @x666666x Why isn't this the main comment?

  • @absinthgirl Yeah, it was filmed on a sound stage in Wapping, East London.

  • Have Floodland on vinyl... amazing sound, nothing beats this record!

  • hey hey hey a hey now now....superb stuff..

  • My compliments go out to the maker of this vid. A job well done

  • Amen to that!

  • to long

    6 min tops

  • wow love it! Andrew is awesome, Good song, nice to have it longer. <3

  • Awesome video, awesome song, and Andrew is of course awesome! <3

  • i only wish they'd re-master it (NOT remix it) and make it more powerful.

the bass - drums are very weak in the recording.

  • @Speedfreak1302

get a better stereo and play it on vinyl

  • @rustybuckets07 :) got studio monitors.

its just the way they recorded it. thats been bothering me since they released it way back when, hehe.

  • Floodland is such a great album. Bands these days seem lazy. I challenge someone to write a new song half this good....

  • @HEADBANGERSBALLER try my Digital Angel :-)I'm only a shadow but...:-)

  • Thumbs up if you'd do Patricia Morrison. Repeatedly.

  • i found not the words to discribe this godness of gothic-song, beautiful, more than beautiful

  • This Corrosion ;)

  • Brings back memories of Fiona.

  • FUCK YEAH THIS VIDEO IS THE SHIT!!!!!!!

  • I got nothing to say I ain't said before....

  • I love his voice

  • Is My Battle Cry

  • Looks like Bartertown from "Thunderdome! Is Patricia a left or right handed Bass player;..I've seen her play with both? Maybe she is ambidextrous! Either way; she is bad ass hot!

  • I'm loving this video / song version!!!!!! Got any Sisterhood?

  • I found the vinyl of this song in the attic of someone. after many work, I heard the original version of This Corrosion... It was so magic

  • Excellent song

  • I just heard this played in a clip for a Versace show from the early 1990's. It definitely seemed to add energy to the runway and the girls seemed more animated on the runway because of it. A cool track for sure!

  • @himmelstanzer At a gym I used to go to back in '92, they played the radio out of an old ghetto blaster and it was a relatively boring commercial station. One day I prepared a tape with this song on it and sneakily placed it in the tape deck during an ad break and flicked on the Sisters. Hardly anyone knew it but a lot of people were freaked out by how cool it was, it created a real buzz.

  • @chrisnoaro1 It really is an energetic song even with the operatic elements on it. It now is on my playlist and makes for a good walking-on-the-treadmill song.

  • Great song. Best album the Sisters of Mercy ever did. Can anyone tell me why Goths are so friggin' catty? What I have observed of this sub-culture is that everyone in it seems obsessed with proving that " I was a Goth before you were"

  • @omae24 Who knows. I've given up on trying to identify myself as anything. Now when I introduce myself: "Hi, I'm Sam and I am no paradigm for any sub-cultures. How do you do?"

  • @omae24

    Yes. It's true. I was.

    ~HISS~

  • Just heard this for the first time on the radio after someone requested it, Thought it was a recent song lol. Do they have any other songs as dramatic as this one?

  • @RibbonedRat

Temple of Love or More might please you.

  • @rassenschaendler

    Thank you

  • @RibbonedRat Whoa, I want to live where you live if they play things like Sisters on the radio. Darn bible-belt, sometimes... I mean.

But yes, I would recommend Emma or any of various other covers they've done: Gimme Shelter, Jolene, et cetera.

  • @Bluelunes

Why wouldn't they play it? Doesn't seem offensive to anyone (unless I'm missing something) Thank you, i'll check that out

  • @RibbonedRat I guess there just isn't a station or demand for it. To be honest I've never called and requested something like Sisters. A lot of the rock they play here (besides the obligatory "Classic Rock" channel) is shitty manufactured for radio type music - and I use that term generously. I guess c'est Arkansas for you.

  • The dark side of the 80's ... wonderful !

  • @TheFallToRise of course wonderful !Sisters influenced me a lot - it echoes in my songs."Sing this corrosion to me ..."

  • @TheFallToRise During the Reagan "Don't Worry Be Happy" era...we needed a respite from Reagan cheery propaganda.

  • mi preferida de sisters

  • Meine persönliche Hymne

  • @Seylendisandrak Mir auch!

  • Excellent video!

  • Thanks for this

  • Patricia Morrison has got to be the main visual inspiration for blind mag.

  • 7:13 - Patricia Morrison is looking at the rain coming down and thinking "Oh heck, it took me ages to backcomb this hair! What will become of it!" lol! Great song. Thanks for editing this so well. Still like some of the old Goth stuff. Don't think the Goth thing ever quite leaves you fully once you have been into it.

  • Looks like the scenery for the first Highlander movie...

  • I was 2years old when Floodland was released. I love SOM and enjoy listening to the older metal as well. Bands like this aren't around anymore (apart from MAYBE DragonForce. which if you haven't, you should listen to THROUGH THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES, and listen to the guitar solos!) LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL

  • Listening this song and throwing snakes at things :)

  • 12 people listen to Kenny G.

  • Music with bite!!!!

  • Damn it! This officially makes me an old git.

    Bugger!

Still love it, and, yes, I DO remember it first

    time round. ...

  • The only thing that dates it is her god awful hair. She could of at least shaved the sides and tied it back....

  • @matt69savage this was made back when that was popular... just leave it at that.

  • Personally, I prefer long and sleek, but then again this was the 1980s and "Big Hair" was in! ;-)

  • @matt69savage Yes. Because we must all conform to the current mode, musn't we?

  • 25 years young and still glorious.

  • One of the best goth bands!!!Patricia Morrison is definitely hot

  • LOL - I always thought, that that's an IN EXTREMO song ^^ (A really great german medieval-metal band)

  • Eldritch is incredible. Writing awesome songs, hitting the top ten more than once and still keeping the band alive despite his words against medias and music industry... You know this guy really loves his job

  • Fantastic song and video

  • After all these years, the lyrics still make no sense to me.

  • @yellowredxx Ditto, but played loud it's a good antidote to the 24\7 gangster rap from next door :-)

  • @algerbraistj65 I hate hip hop even more

  • @samfrompasingtime yeah had that one as well,:-) cranking up the ZX9 with a racepipe when they go sleepy at 08.00 , lets them know what I think ,hehe

  • @algerbraistj65 exactyl!!!

  • @algerbraistj65 you can always smash their door in & then smash up their stereo, if they are real gangsters they wont call the police...then play acdc & really piss em off .

  • @67bones Hehe, they aint real Gangsters, they always go home for their spaghettie hoops on toast , funilly enough they like ACDC, '''sup whats da song you wuz playing jus now''' LOL

  • I was there.

  • Sisters were a step up in the Goth music, but I still remember hearing More Human Than U Man by Zombie and shifting that direction in an instant.

  • @haggissmith More Human Than Human*

  • auch @susi...da sagst was!! soo geil, oder!;)

  • im a goth and this is awesome i love it and im not even old no offence im only 13 compared to thrity or forty im young

  • Love this song...reminds me of dancing in Hollywood clubs in the early 90's with all the Goth peeps...loved those times and this type of music =)

  • Could you also post the original video? I know there used to be one around the youtube, but now it's gone...

  • War das eine geile Zeit!!!

  • @SusiKamikatze Sie haben Recht!

  • never heard this before but found it on live365,an internet music stream site and I love it.

  • This is outstanding stuff!

  • The only problem I ever had with this version of this song was that it was too short by half. By the time it gets to about the 8 min mark we were always in such a frenzy jumping around to it in the club we wanted it to go on all night. Still have never heard anything quite like it. This and Communards 11 min epic "Don't Leave Me This Way" were like going on extended journeys to another mental landscape without taking drugs to get there. Thanks for posting

  • @monkynmee57 EXCELLENT!! I concur!! I do so every remember both.. Communards and Sisters of Mercy in the 80.s... Living in Europe at the time, the CLUBS.. and the DANCE.. "ENDLESS!!" We were More than Alive and Wanted to FEEL IT back then!! :)

  • Pomp and circumstance! Awesome.

  • your t' donkey

  • Can someone or something put back the original music video...this extended version SUCKS BIG FLOPPY DONKEY DICK!!!!

  • @jocer12ify This is the best available version, and I personally think it is a good job.

  • Damn, this song is awesome.

  • one of my favourite band ever! Cheesy video! Sweet eighties/ninetiess!

  • Wonderfully edited video, IDioGenesis. I am surprised you made it flow so well throughout 11 minutes of a song.

Excellent song. Sisters of Mercy, along with Siouxsie & the Banshees, Bauhaus, Nick Cave and The Cure, are the reasons why I respect goth rock at its peak. The second wave of goth rock (if you can even call it that) is way too emo for my taste. Even Marilyn Manson is barely gothic, rather than a shock rocker like Alice Cooper.

  • totally love the sisters 427 years now

  • This is a really great Video. Excellent Job! As far as the 10 min Extended song goes, You can't capture this song in 3 Minutes.

  • wow, good effort on the video

  • sing this to me

oh how i love goth chicks

  • sing this to me

  • Wow-you did a great job creating this video of one of my favorite band's brilliant and timeless song!!!

  • Great job porting the video for the song's extended version. Floodland was one of the best Albums ever. I feel a little sad about the splitting of A. Eldritch and P. Morrison in anger. In my youth she was the ultimate girl I wanted to be with. I still have forbidden fantasies when I see her. *Sigh*

  • einfach nur genial.....

  • Man, this brings me back to my college days. I am getting old!

  • Nothing beats real goth music. Nor real goth chicks!

  • @ironwolfosiris I've known some real goth chicks (and guys) who were actually pretty fond of beatings.

  • @ironwolfosiris I've known some real goth chicks (and guys) who were actually pretty fond of beatings.

  • @ratslikecheese XD lol

  • I watch this tune and can't help but pity this generation. The Sisters of Mercy engaged "the great longing" then for something better in life; their music spoke to the soul. The generation now has no great longing or calling, so their music's passionless with no soul .

  • @TheTechnologyUser1

aren't we getting old? ;) ...it's still there you are just in a different stage of life atm

  • almost forgot how good this song is. love the extended version. and good work on the video.

    it was great!!!!!!!!

    it was an awesome show!!!!!!!!!

  • Great job man, one of the best video mixes I have ever seen.

  • Eines der besten lieder von den sisters

  • Patricia Morrison was, and still is, a goddess.I would quit my job to be her male servant in a second.

  • Cool video! Thanks for posting. The song is genius. I love the constant interplay of grind and tingle! But that is Lerch from the Addams Family on harpsicord, right? And what about the soul generated by the choir? I know they open with a Gregorian chant and dizzying sopranos; but what about the genius of having the choir come in later with the southern gospel call and answer: "Hey! Hey; hey!" Love the singer's delivery; conjures the best of John Kay and David Bowie!

  • Bueno

  • Are you sure it's not Gollum's song?

    Give me the ring.

Always liked this one, particularly the long version. It helps that I'm a corrosion engineer, though.

  • Building up my 80s playlist you realise how much variety there was - from late Punk, New Romantics, Disco, Goth, Rock, Electro - and the variety of people singing. These days it all seems so boring and sterile, (apart from a few exceptions) and totally concerend with looks. I think we were a lot more tolerant and interesting in the 80s!

  • @sleepyfrog1 Right on mr frog!!

  • Excellent editing. I like how you got it spot on as the bassist was mouthing the lyrics. Ten minutes of this music is pure ecstasy.
