If your wii remote's lights turn off when you're not on the GUI tab in glovepie, don't worry, it's still connected. When you run the script the lights will stay on.
Also, I'd highly recommend installing and running PPJoy if you are encountering any other similar issues or can't get past the last steps.
Btw, just for the heads up, both pronunciations are actively used today, gooie, is actually the pronunciation originally assigned to the acronym GUI, you'll notice this in early interviews with Steve Jobs, bill gates and Xerox (Xerox was the first to introduce the graphical user interface in their palo alto research center).Today, GUI is pronounced: "Gooie" as a quick slang term and is spelled out by others.
I'd love to know how to set up the analog sticks for MGS2 on the PC. I want to have them work like they do on the PS2's Dualshock so I could walk and stuff... although I'd have to go without R3 and L3 :p
@gogeeks i'm using win7 64bit and an external bluetooth adaptor. it may not be compatible but its picking it up and i can get it connected with player one's light steady. its just glovepie keeps crashing when i try the gui. it gets slightly further with compatibility mode on for all the older OS but it still eventually crashes. thanks for your help
I'm using windows 7, I can get everything connected properly but I cant map the buttons because it keeps crashing. Does anybody know how to use this in windows 7? I've tried compatibility modes.
@designRpt Thanks \m/ if you make any super awesome scripts (like I remember this one guy set it up so that the nunchuck was rubber banded to his foot and worked as acceleration in mario kart, wiimote was obviously used for steering) make a video response :D
@gogeeks no i just use it normal way to play gameboy advance on my pc and its amazing, been playing a lot of games with it now (gba games), made some videos of me playing with it on my channel even if i dont show in the videos lol
@gogeeks i have the same problem.i connect my wiimote to the computer, but after some time the wiimote shuts down and it dissapeares from the bluetooth devices.
i have windows 7 64 bit,internal bluetooth.
i would love to play emulator games, like you did in the beginning of the video.please help,if you can.
@cheatdude78 Yeah you'll have to manually script that, however if you're going to be using analogue sticks where you want the amount to vary depending on distance, you can't measure that with a keyboard key, so I would recommend downloading "PPJoy" that is a virtual gamepad for your computer, just create a device with two analogue sticks, then script in glove pie to those sticks, then you can have a proper percent working.
If you want me to go into more detail let me know :)
@WhiteWolf1145 overclocking graphics card can lead to unstability, try putting it back to factory clock speeds. if it doesnt work, overclock it back to how it was.
@WhiteWolf1145 okay, have you tried running the program in compatibility mode?? right-click the .exe (the icon you click on to load up the program) and choose properties. from there click on the compatibility tab. once you've done that, tick the box that lets you to run the program in compatibility mode and select an option to run it in e.g. Windows XP SP3. I hope this helps.
Awesome, I have watched a couple of your videos and i really like what you do so thank you! (I subscribed) Anyway, i had a question. Since this seems to me like you can program the response of any bluetooth device using GlovePie. Does this mean you could configure your cell phone as a controller for things like super meat boy and SNes Emulators like megaman?
@Yoseph21 Hey thanks! I'm glad to see that you enjoy my stuff, means a lot!
In theory, you could use any bluetooth device as long as the device can send a signal. However keep in mind that GlovePie is not designed to handle all devices by default so it may require more advanced techniques to get other devices working (luckily GlovePie is open source :D).
@Dmt4030 I'm sorry you feel that way, most people here on the other hand find it incredibly easy to follow. Unlike most broadcasters though I listen to my entire audience, what would you like me to elaborate on for future reference?
@gogeeks First of all let me apologize by saying sorry, and i was upset by not trying to figure it out on my own it's not your fault, u were trying to help and think u for helping.
@NejiHyuga900 hahah ouch! Well if you have built in bluetooth on your laptop, that should do the job as well. If not, I put up a recommended bluetooth adapter in the description :)

Ok I REALLY need help with this. When I try doing the button scripts they just don't work for some reason. Only the rumble works.. but when I do key.a = wiimote.a it just doesn't work. I even tried doing a = wiimote.a or wiimote1.a and it just won't work for some reason... Can someone please help? only the rumble works and I am so anxious to play games with my classic controller or wiimote. thanks
@DonovanHillery what I mean is that my wiimote button presses just don't work on glovepie. they keyboard presses work fine though. ps. im using windows 7
@cycrosism ah well i see you tried the @jfeltes method and it didn't work. Well it's likely that it's either your actually bluetooth adapter (unlikely) or the stack that you're using with your bluetooth adapter. So try installing a different stack (click the link in the description it should have a link in there to tell you which bluetooth stacks are good to use).
If you believe it is the bluetooth adapter, I have an amazon link in the description to a cheap usb one.
@jfeltes You are probably running a newer version of the bluetooth stack that I'm using (i had that error as well in the past). Just uninstall your currently bluetooth stack then install a pervious version.

@nightlyzshadow which script did you want? (you should check the premade scripts in the glove pie download...the link for that is in the description) most of the scripts you would use will be in there :)
Thank you very much, I am sure everyone appreciates it. I have a question though, can you actually point and move the cursor with the wiimote, and does it support the nunchuck?
@sacredshinobi yeah you need to have the sensor bar if you want to do a point at the screen (just need to download a script for that, check the show notes link for that).
I was wondering if I didn't want to use the WiiMote to control the pointer onscreen if I could just simply use to a normal wireless mouse without any hassle. Kind of like how you can use a USB Keyboard/mouse and still use the normal keyboard/mouse on a laptop.
@disbuylshite You don't need to use the wiimote as the pointer, on this tutorial for example it's not being used as a mouse and a normal wireless mouse is Indeed being used.
@Geolan1 No lol, this was actually done on a Windows XP computer, the netbook just has the classic theme on to give me more desktop space and to give me more speed, didn't want my computer getting hassled down from the default luna theme.

@FanzRatingz yeah it's pretty sweet, you can do some cool stuff with the Wii. I'll probably cover that stuff on my other channel soon youtube(dot)com/gaminghacks once i get more free time that is!
@BlazeReap2 You would have to, but luckily it doesn't take long re-syncing it and it's well worth the extra 30 seconds. Playing games with the wiimote is SO much better then playing games with a keyboard (well for some games).
This worked on my Windows XP, I'm now trying to connect my wii controller to my Windows 7 pc, the device is detected but when I press down 1 & 2, the controller doesn't find my pc. :(
@miketh2005 yeah exactly.....or you killed one of those tiny toy dogs that everyone is annoyed by, like a poodle or something haha
yeah....so now that i lost my poodle owning subscribers, you should take their place by subscribing (if you wan nice comment hahaha gave me a good laugh)
get em 99cents on ebay, lol, one of the cheapest things on ebay. they work, but they are from china, come with 1 year warranty, the one i bought, so good deal.
Yes it's definitely possible and it is incredibly easy :)
Do you want me to make a video on how to make one? If you think that's be a good idea I can def. make one on camera (I can make two, one that will work just like the regular wiimote sensor bar, and one that will work similarly but it works much closer to the screen so you can sit in a computer chair)
If this is something you'd be interested in I can def. slap a video of that together for you really quickly.
your wiimote is connected to your computer right? if it is for sure try using an older version of glovepie. If that doesn't fix the problem comment back and I can help you from there :)
When you click the link for the download, there is his blog on the left bar, he posts his older versions on previous posts of his blog, so go through that :)
hey gogeeks, basically im a final year student at university and i have a project on virtual environments, i have to do connect the wii mote to the pc but i want to be able to use the accelerometers in the wii mote? how can i do that? thank you
internal = inside your laptop/desktop...external is a card on the outside of your computer (like a usb on, the one i use on camera). Ether one should do the job for this!
According to the manual which came with my laptop it says that it has built-in bluetooth 2.0. Do i need the bluetooth adapter to have the wiimote working?
Hey man, Tried it out, worked first go, thanks heaps! Gonna have a play and see if I can get it working with the pitch/yaw for some other stuff, thanks again!
Glad it helped! if you come up with any super cools scripts that sources don't have, email them to me: gog33ks@gmail(dot)com and they'll be posted on the website for this video (obviously credit will be given to your username/website/etc)
It goes both ways, watch old Steve Jobs presentations and interviews with Bill Gates when they talk about the Graphical User Interface, they pronounce it as "goo-eee"
Now though I have heard several people calling it "G-U-I" so it can be pronounced either way, it's a personal preference thing.
Yeah def! Subscribe to this channel, I always make videos on the super cool stuff (i haven't really uploaded lately but i'm starting again next week, been busy with school).
If you check out my site though, I always write about sites that are cool
when ever i connect my wiimote to my PC.. windows says its connected but my Wiimote jsut turns off.. and ya.. how do i fix that so it actualy stays on

is it possible to make a sesore bar so u can aim in the screen for the mouse?
MrSuperbing 1 year ago
Yes it's definitely possible and it is incredibly easy :)
Do you want me to make a video on how to make one? If you think that's be a good idea I can def. make one on camera (I can make two, one that will work just like the regular wiimote sensor bar, and one that will work similarly but it works much closer to the screen so you can sit in a computer chair)
If this is something you'd be interested in I can def. slap a video of that together for you really quickly.

Typically the lights on the wiimote don't stop flashing...typically after loading a script they stop flashing, but not always.

is this an internal or external bluetooth adapter?
gogeeks 1 year ago
i think i am fixing this...
TheZenMovies 1 year ago
internal = inside your laptop/desktop...external is a card on the outside of your computer (like a usb on, the one i use on camera). Ether one should do the job for this!
gogeeks 1 year ago

According to the manual which came with my laptop it says that it has built-in bluetooth 2.0. Do i need the bluetooth adapter to have the wiimote working?
runevaldivia 2 years ago
In that case, no you do not need an external bluetooth adapter, the internal one should work fine :)
Let me know how it goes!

Just so you know, it isn't pronounced "goo-eee" it is all seperate letters G-U-I
goguda55 2 years ago
It goes both ways, watch old Steve Jobs presentations and interviews with Bill Gates when they talk about the Graphical User Interface, they pronounce it as "goo-eee"
Now though I have heard several people calling it "G-U-I" so it can be pronounced either way, it's a personal preference thing.
