My days as a helicopter pilot ended in tragedy. I was landing at a large summer fair where the organisers had STUPIDLY placed a trampoline next to the helipad.

Next thing I know, there’s loads of screaming & people are calling me a ‘murderer’ trying to drag me out & lynch me! The Judge said it WASN’T MY FAULT that a kid had bounced up into the blades & got decapitated. He DID criticise me for making a quick getaway, but how was I to know the head had landed in the back of the cockpit?

The pilot and ground crew go through an intensive safety report before deploying an operation liker this.

It is something that pilots like this do every day

the rope that was attached to the helicopter wouldn't come clear of the hook.

The crew knew that this would possibly happen, as there isn't enough weight to open the hook once released.

The guy under the machine was supposed to give it a little tug to release it,but pulls too hard

@queenstownvideo The guy underneath wasn't supposed to do anything, he was a rigger, working on securing the tower that the helo had just erected. he wasn't rated to be messing with cargo hooks. Also, a longline hook should operate without the need for a "Tug". Control cables physically force the locking mechanism open or closed.

he hit the cable that was at the top of that tower and attached to the bottom of the helicopter (on that black thing)...it looked like he was landing or something but the fact that no one realized that the closer the the grown he got the tighter the cable got so the closer it got to the blades is beyond me..if you look at other videos with different angles you can see that it was impossible to go any lower but he still did..lucky no one died
