  • Quit playing with the camera while you're driving! You ran me off the road last week.

  • wow you actually have a decent pirate unlike up here where all the pirates are crap.

  • That station is playing some pretty good music. That song that starts at 4:23 is also in the GTA Vice City Stories video game. He mat be operating illegally but going by your scope he isnt interfering with any of the other stations. What is the broadcast range of this station?

  • This was an awesome video by chance can you tell me the name of the second. Song that would be great

  • Man I wish I had a spectrum analyzer

  • Can't see the antenna because it's to dark. How much is a license?

  • @Chrisgodoflard watch the other videos, it took us 13 years to get ours, Non-Commercial licenses are free. You just need to find a channel that will fit in your area, and wait for a fileing window........

  • this guy is epic

  • hey radio guy! it's me squeegie15 from south florida! i'm dyeing to know the very first song in this video it sounds good like something i want to hear! over and over what song is it? can you play it next radio show and many others?

  • @BlGDOG18 The song is "You Were The Last High" by The Dandy Warhols

  • very interesting thanks for sharing. 94.5 is jamming!

  • What is the device model?

  • People, stop calling him names, he IS the pirate, this was just his way to slowly build up the story.

  • Nothing new. Low power FM stations are normal. You need a triangulation antenna for direction plotting. We used to do this to find some dork on our repeater, and we found him. Fox hunting.

  • By driving around town, you can usually get an idea roughly where the station is. Next tune to the channel just above or below their frequency and as you get closer you'll hear the splatter get louder and louder. We've found a couple pirate stations this way around here this way with just the car stereo! Good fun. I wouldn't bust them though. Makes no diff to me!

  • Your a moron. Learn how to signal hunt the right way. A spectrum analyzer is NOT required, or even advised...

  • THAT GUY HAS NO FRIENDS

  • I prefer seeing and hearing the original pirate radio stations from the past.

  • I prefer to see and hear the original pirate radio stations from the past.

  • I prefer to see and hear the original pirate radio stations from te past.

  • WOW YOU REALLY HERASS PIRATE RADIO BROADCASTERS?? WHAT WOULD THE WORLD DO WITH OUT YOU!!! THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY KIDS FROM 94.5 EVIL MESSAGES!!!!!!!

  • @jimepage You really need to watch Part 2.

  • @jimepage If you would have cared to notice he is actually the pirate and this was just a clever funny way to lead up into the revelation. Good god.

  • easier to just use a shielded directional antenna to figure out the direction. of course the FCC does not need to do this they can simply view the signal from multiple tower recievers to triangulate the exact location (asumeing the signal is strong enough to even reach multiple towers).

  • Why do you make it so fuckin hard for you`r self =D HAHAHA... Get your self some real Hunting equipment and stop wasting your time... LOL

  • Pirates mostly have better music than the others. Actually, licenses should be granted by the quality of the music. Then the bands would be rather empty :-)

  • I do like this kind of research . I myself have done this at one time. I have heard some pirate radio station. Haven't really heard much now adays. Keep listening...

  • You know when you said Modern ROck, I was expecting Nickelback sounding bands, but your bands seem to have a grungish and noise rock like sound which is good.

  • You guys need to watch part 2 before you say something bad about him.....you're going to end up really surprised. HE'S COOL!!!!!!

  • Lol this is pretty cool. I wounder if there is one near me.

  • I didn't read the comments first because usually there is just bulshit written there but on this post I was a fool for not reading! way to go 94.5! I my post on your second vid truly doesn't do justice. YOU ROCK!

  • You are a douche, government pig!

  • leave the pirates alone! although i have been inspired by this vid

  • Does anyone know where I may be able to start a pirate station?

  • This is actually rather exciting. I assume you're a ham.

    KC7FYS

  • why go through all that trouble to find them, they aren't hurting anyone

  • I do really enjoy this little video find. keep me informed as I also DX radio stations at night. I have no luck for a while. reception on Sw isn't that good anymore.. Radioman...

  • This could have been so much more compelling & concise. The key phrase, which we heard ad infinitum, was "as you can see". Yes.. as we can see!

The time it took to show us the frequency list was agonising.

With the superfluous meandering chat, phrases like "newer and more current stuff" (just either of those would do), endless restatements and a feeling we're not hearing anything that isn't already obvious, it was a reflection of mainstream radio waffle vs pirates who just "get on and do it"!

  • It's cool because it's a pirate radio station but it's gay cuz it's modern rock.

  • What was the first song?

  • Leave it alone!!! God why should anyone legistrate a natural frequency ive just been done for running a pirate station.

  • ahhhhhhh, dandy warholes, lovely

  • not difficult to find when you already knew the address and even do one or two shows and jingles.

  • its not illigal to listen to it over here (holland) dunno about the US goverment since pretty much nothing is legal over there

  • What was that second band playing someone?

    cool song

  • The band is called Almost Something, the track is called Darkness. They are a local band, you can find them on MySpace.

  • As you know Pirate, there are many people who believe in freedom of speech. These negative comments come from people who have a personal issue with "breaking the law". They tend to rear their heads more than someone who has no personal issue. The good outweigh the bad. Keep it up. Good music.

  • All these haters! He is not broadcasting over anyone! Spectrum theft? How can you steal what cannot be taken? Keep it up, love it.

  • PIRATES FTW

  • I just think is preposterous that someone playing good music, not hurting anyone is getting hassled for exercising the free right of broadcast. If the guy was transmitting offensive material, I would understand why it needs to be tracked and shut down. That is my opinion, but I still abide by the FCC rules.

  • ''for exercising the free right of broadcast''

In what world do you live in ...?

There is no such things as free right to broadcast.

    Illegal broadcasting is spectrum theft.

    gW:-)

  • @OH2FFY

    Spectrum Theft?

The world that YOU are living in is the world where invisible boundaries are put in place.

There are bigger issues in this world than some guy broadcasting good music.

You should listen to K1OIK . Ham Radio ops are uptight and can't face reality and the truth.

  • Your opinion is that of a brainwash idiot, because my way of thinking is, as long as you don't hurt anyone and interfere with anyone's freedom you should be left alone and YOU should mind your own business.

If you are so concern about law being enforced then you should nag at your government, your neighbor and even your family because we all break them.Even YOU!

All this world ain't nothing but a matrix. Jump off a building? I am not the one crying like a sizzy about "Spectrum Theft", sucker.

  • Comment removed

  • Even though you don't speed, you pay taxes, and don't get laid, doesn't mean you don't break the law. You should move out of the boonies and learn the real meaning of freedom, son. Your opinions prove that you are a wanna be smart-ass.You have the luxury of calling me a scum because of my view, but i bet you would not last in Iraq enforcing laws against real criminals who bomb and kill children. Oh they payed for the bomb so they are allowed to use it and the person who takes it away is a thief?

  • @OH2FFY

Well thank you for showing your picture in your wacky YouTube channel.

I bet you are that donkey trying to teach math the same way you are trying to prove about laws and criminal.

Like I said. Move out of the boonies, SLIMY SUCKER!

By the way "Hihi, happy trails--moron."

Only idiotic ham operators still use "Hihi" shows you are the idiot.

I am here sitting laughing going back and forth, but you are the idiot for going with it.

Please, make me laugh harder. "Hihi!!!" lol

  • If your into pirate radio check out my Towerblock dreams from Southend but not all pirates are run like this in the UK.

  • Great videos and it looks like pirate radio is alot different in the US than the UK.

And love the set up and mask.

  • What is the band/song that starts after the "Homegrown rock and roll" liner at 2:16? I must find this band! They sound killer.

  • what I don,t get is from Part 2, he shows his transmitter antenna and this is a decent size tower behind his house.

I would like to know, how he keeps from being busted, Id love to have a tower that big, but mines only a 30 foot mast in the backyard with a groundplane antenna. pushing 15 watts. Id love to know how much power he's putting out.

  • Comment removed

  • It is really a quite big transmitter antenna and here in Germany they are hunting pirate readios active. I also got a 15W and a 10W Stereo transmitter but currently no good antenna :/ would be nice to see more informations about 94.5 and maybe tips how to protect ourselves.

  • @OSOEAST

One of the things I learned from my time in the army (rto) is that broadcast range is dependent on elevation, not power. That's why I ran a 8' whip on my freightliner. The higher you are, the farther you braodcast. You need to get above groundclutter (trees) or be on open ground.

  • Exploring the signal:

-If its a pirate radio station, it isnt really illegal, exploring the signal of what shouldnt really be there.

-For licenced stations, mostly anyway, have their tranmitter locations and studio locations on their websites, nothing illegal about finding them a more fun way :p

  • Before you post anything derogatory, just watch part two of this series. This guy actually kicks ass. But yes, the hamsters are egomaniacs and the biggest group of koksmokers around.

  • In this day in age.. the FCC doesn't care at all. The ham operators have to police the bands because there are many threats that migrate over to the amateur bands because they go unchecked in the non-ham bands.

  • what fun is it to know where the broadcast is coming from? it takes away the intrigue if you demystify it.

  • low tech, illegal, and leave the guy alone you fat fuck! "it's cute, he has his own liners!" fuck you! Let him be.... seriously this is what you do for fun?

  • What a lovely spectrum analyzer :-)

  • 4:17 > seriously cool liner for a pirate station! plus the song after is epic

  • It proves that some folks who comment on these videos don't know about good story telling, and also if you can rattle someone then you must be doing something right!

Way to go 94.5 from a pirate fan.

  • i heard your voice in the liner this was a very good attencion grabber

  • This guy is kind of stupid. Any dolt with a portable yagi and a Wattmeter or a simple FM reciever could RDF this guy. But no, he needs some damn "spectrum analyzer" hooked up to what looks like a cheap aftermarket tuner.

If you are going to act like you know what you are doing, you should at least know.

    "High tech equipment!" lol.

  • omg! it's the end of the world! what are you a ham? You sound more like a CB person. Dude get a life!

  • ....Not Cool. Leave the pirates alone.

  • Dude go to bed!

  • it's ILLEGAL to drive and film at the same time. stupid fat fuck.

  • Cool !! hunt everything that's free in the world and kill it !!!

  • well not to rain on your paride but under part 15 of the FCC rules anyone can start a radio station on AM or FM using low power but you need a transmitter licence

  • That is not true. Part 15 addresses unintentional transmission and there is NO power allowed, may be 50mw or 100 mw which is good for yards. Also putting an antenna up is a NO NO.

There are no licenses unless you get a commercial station licence and that is not a simple guaranteed deal. It is expensive and time consuming to get a license. Chances are you will not get a license, espcially for some yahoo doing it for a hobby.

  • lol someone came close to them lol omg people just get the license

  • Comment removed

  • He's practically showing off the fact he's transmitting! There's a pirate station in Manchester UK with a very obvious vertical dipole on top of a conspicuous pole.
