  • americans have many tricks to throw a ship into enemy territory!, or destroy it themselves!, but the destruccion of a ship is ridiculous! unless the usa was supporting the allies some covert way!!!▐▐▐

  • @Czaendermajer recently they discoverd the ship and unknown to the citizens on board underneath the ship was army supplies guns food and ammunition the US was making a large amount of money selling weapons to the allies

  • still happens today!, now they hide them in humanitarian aid!, like the aid that was given to africa before & after sierra leon mass genocide!!! to illegalise independant mining companies and fuck their population even more taking away their weapons!!!, btw forever live mikhail timofeyevich kalashnikov. and may yuri orlov (real name victor boot the cia gun runner puppet!) burn in hell!▐▐▐

  • @kickassed Don't forget Kickass, the Americans also won at Argencourt, They won at Waterloo and at Trafalgar. They also skipped across from Valley Forge in 1864 to clear the Russians from the Crimea. Damn fine soldiers!

  • @overopensights. excellent irony.

  • Gavrilo Princip wasnt terorist!

  • "History of World War One 1914-1918"

    ...

    ...

And they only talk about America =/

  • There is also alot of political reasons the war started

  • This is what we are taught at schools, but it is not true. I have read several books and soldiers' diaries : Actually Nivelle's offensive suceeded in conquering the "Chemin des Dames", which was a major strategic position on the western front. The Germans exhausted their reserves to stop it. Thus, "Chemin des Dames" was not a hard defeat, rather a costly victory - less costly than the pointless offensives of 1915, where 100 000s French soldiers were killed just to gain 200 meters.

  • You are too correct. Schools have the assumption off ww1 = bad and ww2 = good war. There seems to be this obsession with gaining countless miles as somehow indicative of victory. You are correct to point out that the capture of a strategic position which might only require the advance of a few miles is still a victory.

I would enourage you to write up your thoughts and publish them. I have seen a few of your posts and I think you truly know your stuff. Good Job

  • Thanks. In fact, that's what I am doing... slowly !

There is certainly no "good war". Yet, WW2 is commonly consdered "good" as it destroyed empires of evil, while WW1 is labelled "bad" as a pointless war between brother nations. Well, the Brit-French-Belgians who resisted the German 1914 invasion were deeply convinced they were defending Human Rights & International Law.

A victory was commonly measured by the prisoners & cannons captured, plus the ground taken. Nivelle's offensive fits.

  • I would recommend you start with a general interest piece, perhaps about the story of your Great-Uncle winning the Croix De Guerre as a way to look at the wider event of the Chemin des Dames. The research involved in that process will give you alot to think about but should help you focus on a specific angle for a more academic piece.

  • short.

  • serbia lost the third of its population during the w w 1.

  • @vipbeograd an entire generation of young men died in the war as well.

  • Particularly, the label 'The Great War' was coined by history scholars some while after the war had ended. The people of those days knew it by a more colourful name: 'The Kaiser's War'. I was told this by WWI Canadian and British veterans I had the honour to meet, years ago. Something similar occurred about legendary von Richthofen. He was known by his contemporaries as 'the little red' (le petit rouge). the 'Red Baron' label, came later.

  • This may be true in English-speaking countries. Yet I have a certificate, given to my great-uncle in 1917 with his Croix de Guerre won at the Chemin des Dames battle, labeled "Grande Guerre Européenne 1914-1917". Thus, the label 'Great War' was used already.

  • French suffered a hard defeat in "Chemin des Dames" when the Butcher Gle Nivelle sent his troops right to death ,i think more than 120 000 Fr soldiers were killed ! this pushed soldiers to refuse fighting and escape !

  • WW1 in 1.09!

Well yes of course everyone knows the Americans won the war! General Pershing won it!

What a lot of garbage this is.

The US Senate held an inquiry into Pershing's behaviour on 11 Nov 1918 and the unnecessary slaughter of troops under his command on that day. The Senate's findings were not published.

One of the REAL architects of the allied "victory" was General John Monash, check him out.

  • Of course, everyone knows that British, and French won the war.

Ferdinand Fosh(French general)was the main responsible ,in the Second Battle of Marne in July 1918,for the counter attack that defeated the germans,in France, his relevance was such that those offensives received its own name.

And Germany in 1918 was still in perfect fighting condition, and expecting at versailles a treaty worthy of a military draw with taste of diplomatic defeat, not a treaty worthy of a crushing defeat.

  • America's joining helped the British and French, that can't be debated. However, I give the Brits and French 95% of the credit for carrying the field war effort for the better part of 4 years...U.S.A. didn't win the war, simply helped bring it to the treaty table quicker.

Germany got the shaft in the treaty, led directly to WW 2.

  • Exactly.

  • see, some of us American's ain't so bad lol

  • france sufferd badly :(

  • @ViriathusVingathor Without doubt they were defeated in the field, and from pascendaele onwards they just went backwards! The only two armies stronger in 1918 that they were in 1914 were the British and the late entrants; the Americans. The French and the Germans were 'hanging onto their helmet chinstraps' with exhaustion!

  • talk about a 'brief overview'...shallow is another way of putting it. is this for 1st graders?

  • so fast!!

  • wtf went o fast

  • it wasnt at a low point that they joined it was just the coming of the end, america probably thought we will join now and make it look like we had an effect

  • Amazing video! Very good material for classroom use for teachers :)
