  • experimentalist proto-punk from the 60's

    i love those old guys!

  • Sorry believers - but these guys are just plain awful. Saw the movie - watched it all the way through - and decided it is the type of nihilist, head-banging, puerile crap that a schizophrenic would either produce or listen to. Repetitive, contrived, and farcical - like, dare I say, Warhol. ...but maybe I need to see them live? Plse - help me understand.

  • @greenlightwilly There's nothing to understand. It's all in the music. If you don't like it, you don't. I will say the repetition is part of the point. If you can't get into music that does that you won't like the Monks.

I discovered them two months ago. They're in my top five favorite bands.

  • David Havlicek. aka Dave Day, my youngest brother. He always wanted a band. Our mother and aunts were very musical. sang together. Our mother played the piano by ear. never read a note. our dad played the juice harp. know what that is??.

I have another brother Raymond. so very proud. Diana Havlicek Morales rip David.

  • AMAZING! That bought tears to my eyes that did! I got all emotional with happiness! RESPECT!!!

  • hey it was just a matter of expression of how i felt after seeing The Monks live 30 years on! The Monks are geniuses! Well before their time! Infact they are one of the best bands of all time! Pioneers! And what is wrong with the occasional emotion, its what makes us human after all you idiot!

  • I was there too! I was dancing next to a girl in a mini skirt who was on speed. It was needless to say the best gig of my life.....

  • COME TO DETROIT!

  • THE DVD IS OUT! GET IT!

  • I was there! :) A-mazing gig and I met Gary Burger in the pub down the road about five minutes after they'd finished. Totally amazing!
