@dylanleeFLY You can come out and watch SCCA racing for free (or next to nothing). I think ACS (formerly CalSpeedway) charges nothing, Wilow springs is like a $5 gate fee.
@dylanleeFLY Well they do not really have restrictions like that as they do at pro races. Generally you will have garage/paddock access and grid access if you are old enough and dressed out properly. Unless it is an enduro race there are no "pit stops."
@CRXSI1987 Could be... Google Pro-7 and you find the rules for the class, although they are being reworked due to the 12a rotors and housings going unobtanium.
your car had great power I would have hung back for a lap or two coming in to that turn in a 4th postion and clean would have set you up for a great race
Looks to me like this driver was clean. He could have hopped the curb a little more at the apex of turn 4, but he was nailed from behind. I've had to go to the grass here myself, but going to the outside of turn 3 is often a very fruitful pass.
I passed all the cars cleanly and while I drove in deep I was in complete control. If you watch the video closely (perhaps watch the other clip that plays at full speed) you will see that I was hit from behind by another over anxious driver who got in too deep and too hot. You do not see me running into the back of the car in front of me...
It was enough of a head on collision! I would guess I got hit at about 40mph or better as we typically take that corner at 50 or so. Granted it was not two cars closing at speed but it was as close as I would ant to get.
Hey, I remember that race! I was there! Fontana rocks!Looks to me as though you went into turn 3 way too hot, and could'nt make turn 4. It's easy to pass cars when they are all slowing down to make a turn. lol.
Heh...Not "way too hot" at all...everyone was slowing way too much for the turn (preapring to go two wide and I just carried my speed and slipped down the outside.
If I was "way too hot" I would have first spun CCW in turn 3 coming off the straight or at least had some heavy oversteer as I approached turn 4.
watch the other clip that plays at real time and you can hear when I get punted from behind...oh yea, the heavy right rear damage gives it away too...
Oh, I don't doubt that you were punted from behind.
I was talking about your comment about being punted by the red car, and there being red paint on your left front fender. He made the turn, you didn't. Just one of those racing deals.
Oh, I can see where that is vague...that is post race red paint on the left front of his black car where he nosed me on my right rear. I had the turn made and would have taken the other red car going into 5 because he would have had to slow way down to make the double apex.
it was the white car that stops next to him right after the crash. if you pause it right when his car is in a 180, you can see the white car clearly about to pound his front end.
SurfCityRacer is right.. i race porsche/lotus.. that hit came from behind.. he never touched the red car.. if he had.. ud see the red car come off line slightly or wiggle from the hit.. those cars dont weigh more than 2500 so u know they will move if they get hit.. the incident was not the driver of the video's fault rather some overeager driver behind him..
guessing its that white/blueish car....check the mirror obviously. kinda hard to tell whether the impact was that forcefull coming from the side of the car. couldve been the car behind it. i vote for the car w/ the stripes-blue/white.
Yea, well they originally called out the same driver that I suspected (who had hit me the day before and has a propensity for that type of behavior) but a review of his on-board cam showed that while he might have helped me around he did not initiate my spin. The driver who I later suspected punted me has not taken ownership despite some post-race red paint on the left front corner.
its like playing gran turismo five. lol thats awesome!

pro-7???? at a regional race never heard of this class?!?!?!?
CRXSI1987 1 year ago
@CRXSI1987 Regional class in the CSCC and AZ region and possibly others too. Basically a heated up version of SRX-7 and very close to an ITA car.
SurfCityRacer 5 months ago
@SurfCityRacer ohhhh i see, back east we have IT7 in the Mid-Atlantic, and it sounds like the Pro-7 class is very similar, thanks!

Need to ask- whee did you expect the cars that were ahead of you to go? Stuffing it in deep to a corner most often leads to exactly what you got.

Is everyone driving a 1st gen RX-7? Or is it just me.

I don't think you were driving a 1 st gen in that video. Unless you were in that video, then yes, it's just you lmao :D

There is no worse feeling than getting punted like that from behind.

except maybe spinning 270 with nowhere to go and having another car slam into you at speed. ahahah...
