@irmesia Windows 8 is a addon pack with Windows 7, and Windows 7 is a service pack for Windows Vista.

Really. MIcrosoft is just making and ugly (Opinion) Metro UI update, with a few new features slapped on, without real thinking.

It's never too late to turn to Mac, if you have the money, and don't need to play games with extreme graphics. Mac does not plan to do this ugly Metro thing.

As for me, I will stay with Windows Vista. It's not a bad OS with the updates now.

If anyone's ever used Windows Phone 7, they know the Tile/Metro Interface is the way of the future. It's beautiful, smooth as butter, and a lot more useful than just a static row of icons. Remeber that this isn't even beta yet. A long way to go in development. Heck at this stage in development Win 7 didnt even have the super bar yet.

Don't install on your main machine. If you don't have a test PC, you can install on VMWare Workstation 8 ( paid version). Just make sure the floppy is set to "Use physical drive" or it will not install. When prompted to look for floppy on boot say yes. It worked for me.

In order to install the Developers Preview in a virtual environment, you'll have to use VirtualBox by Oracle. When you create the virtual machine, it has to have at least 2GB RAM to function properly, otherwise it is very slow. I hate the Metro UI, but otherwise it is ok.
