God I remember the game, up by 10 and doing good. Then, it just fucking tore open on defense. They stopped moving their feet, stopped playing D. So many fucking open shots it hurts. I guarantee you if that team had taken the game as a seventh game of the finals, melo makes that dunk, lebron gets that block and wade doesn't get run over by a screen. 90% of sport is half mental.
Greece is a team of excellent players, with better technique than most of the NBAers. They lacked in athleticism but made up with team effort and some luck. NBA for me has lost the plot when it comes to the balance between showmanship/sport that's why USA keeps losing out in these competitions.

Garnett actually as a consistent shot combined with excellent defense. He would be perfect on the USA team. In the 2000 Olympics, the USA team was undefeated with Garnett and Kidd on the team. Allen is another player that would be good to have.

I think you have no watch a lot of Euroleague games this year because any of those players you have say have been a dominant player on Euroleague. In many cases any one of them have played well on their teams: Scales!! Haislip!! Sharp!! (just bench players), only Trajan Langdon on CSKA.

Some of you Greek fans have to be realistic. Greece's best player isn't as good as the USA's worst player. Greece won because they had good chemistry and they play well as a team. Even though the USA has good individual players, they can't seem to come through as a team. I still think that Argentina has the best national team. Greece is a team of excellent players, with better technique than most of the NBAers. They lacked in athleticism but made up with team effort and some luck. NBA for me has lost the plot when it comes to the balance between showmanship/sport that's why USA keeps losing out in these competitions.

Garnett actually as a consistent shot combined with excellent defense. He would be perfect on the USA team. In the 2000 Olympics, the USA team was undefeated with Garnett and Kidd on the team. Allen is another player that would be good to have.

You guys make it seem like our team sucked. We beat a team (Argentina) that almost beat a team that blew you guys out (Spain). I'll list reasons why we lost.
1. No chemistry
2. We didn't have the best players in the USA on the US National team.
3. Some players on the team didn't deserve to be there.
4. Not used to FIBA rules or the European style of play.
5. Our go to guy was Melo.
6. Too many young overrated players and not enough experienced veterans.
We would have easily won with a lineup of Kidd, Kobe, Melo/T-Mac, Brand, and Garnett.

The 3 best American players didn't play for the USA national team. That's another reason why we lost. Four out of the five American players that I mentioned could shoot the ball very well for their position.

i think the european players spend of their time in practicing defense and basics, like shooting... european centers can also shoot... american players are much more athletic (faster, jump higher...)
when you look at a team like e.g. the san antonio spurs, they play like a european team with their systems.. and that's why i think that this european team with guys like diamantidis or garbajosa and navarro could play against many nba teams....

It's obvious that the best European is going to have a big impact in the NBA. It's also obvious that mediocre NBA players aren't going to dominate the Euroleague. You can't compare a guy like Dirk to a guy like Haislip.

I think you have no watch a lot of Euroleague games this year because any of those players you have say have been a dominant player on Euroleague. In many cases any one of them have played well on their teams: Scales!! Haislip!! Sharp!! (just bench players), only Trajan Langdon on CSKA.

Well, the NBA is for zogglers... All the acrobatics in the NBA can also be seen at circuses... The Greek national team, had no lose in the Mundobasket except for the final. Diamantidis' shots are like the best that can be found in an also great defender and play-maker. This doesn't exist in NBA. Papaloukas must be the best in passing game around the world, plus he dunks like hell.. Probably the best players that participate in high class tournaments nowadays.

Lets say that Papaloukas is as good as the Euroleague MVP of last year (Anthony Parker). Everyone on the USA team is better than Anthony Parker except Battier. Some of you Greek fans have to be realistic. Greece's best player isn't as good as the USA's worst player. Greece won because they had good chemistry and they play well as a team. Even though the USA has good individual players, they can't seem to come through as a team. I still think that Argentina has the best national team. If they didn't lose to Spain, they would have won the FIBA championship.

I beg to differ. Papaloukas is easily the most intelligent PG in the world today (second maybe to Nash who's also not American), USA has to make PGs of such quality since the days of Magic.
