I'm agree with Raihaanah, in my opinion Shakira don't show the real and exquisite middle eastern dance and her movements don't convince me at all. I recommend watch videos from other dancers and we'll see the big difference on this dance/art!!!!!
Wow; she is very good. Do you know those shamadan's weigh 10 to 20 pounds?!!! Plus dripping wax! I am a bdancer, and trust me, what she's doing is not easy; and she does it well. You GO girl!!! (And it is true the original dance was done only in the company of women, but we are now in 2007...)

I think that anyone who inspires her self in SHAKIRA doesnt have the minor idea of what this culture, art and dance is about... what a waste of talent!!

Bellydance is NOT meant to draw the interest of males. Traditionally it has been performed only in the presence of other women.

Hey do not disgrace Bellydance with Shakira's hip locks and sawying, that is not funny, or cute at all. That girl does not do raks, and if she does, she is defacing it in her videos.
