  • if yoll like the sks go to madmikeweapons i saw his yugo sks review like 10 min ago and its the best ive seen

  • For a real sks review come to my Channel and check us us out!

  • @sold1ier there is no real differance between the Russian SKS and the yugoslavian SKS , but for one exception . The Russian is manufactured by tula armory it has the Russian star sykle and syth on the recoil spring cover . The yugoslavian has all the Russian features except for the black bayonet and the stamp , stock color and so on . Idk withc versions are Chrome lined barrle , but the yugoslavian is not . I own the yugoslavian it has the NATO spec grenade launcher with blade bayonet and 10 mag

  • Hi, I live in California and I was wondering if the Russian SKS is also legal in California. I know the Yugo SKS is legal because whenever I look up for a gun recommendation in California, people always say "Go with the Yugo SKS"

  • Yugoslavia SKS's produced after 1970 DO have chrome lined barrels.

  • nice video, it looks a high quality build cheers

  • I just wish these Yugos had chrome-lined barrels...but oh well. Probably doesn't matter as long as you stay away from corrosive ammo and clean each time.

  • Yugo SKS vs Soviet SKS??

    Which one did you like?

  • One of my favorite guns. Shoots so smooth.

  • Yugo probably best looking sks avail

  • I have a couple questions for ya, I'm thinking about getting one of these and I was wondering how difficult it is to remove all the cosmoline from it? also, are these Yugoslavian rifles easily able to replace with different stocks? I'm fairly new to the sks field so please bear with me. Thanks!

  • we know our stuff

  • $200 on jgsales(dot)com at the moment. just bought mine :-)

  • how standard or how easy is it to get ammo for this rife? and is it expensive?

  • @chitown1966 About 20 cents per shot in bulk. Not too hard to find on most ammo websites.

  • @JMunn55 Thanks for the answer.

  • @chitown1966 You're welcome. My buddy just bought a 1955 Russian SKS for $200. Lightly used. He just ordered 1120 rounds on stripper clips for $259 on Frontier Firearms.ca. I don't think it is corrosive, but they do have some corrosive ammo in 1200 for $10 more. Just put vinegar or Windex down the barrel after shooting corrosive ammo.

  • do you know if the M11A3 WWII rifle grenade will fit the yugo

  • Whats the diffrence between a 59/66A1 and a 59/66A2? Also what is the song in the backround?

  • holly cow in 2009 you said $300-$350 I just bought my yugo for $225 at a pawn shop out the door...the stock is old and alltitle darker..but hey might as well pick up another 3 or 4

  • i got mine for $169 best deal ever (new in the box) the guy said that this is the best condition hes has ever seen for an sks. The only problem is that everthing is extreamly stiff (normal for a new gun) but other than that best $169 i ever spent.

PS: when i mean new i dont littearly mean new i mean it was stored and packed away for a while.

  • Sootch my brother! Just picked up a yugo sks on Saturday. Cabelas has them on special this week. 199.99 and 20 off ontop of that via coupon! Very pumped! I just finished cleaning the cosmoline out of it today. Video posted of its condition upon buying. Thanks for all the sks vids!!

  • Црвена Застава је најбоља- The Red Flag is the best. Do they still sell yugoslav (Now Serbian) guns at the US?

  • @airzorne yes they still sell Serbian CZ99 and TT pistol, rifles we have the Yugo SKS 59, 59/66, 59/66A1 with night sights, also we have the yugo AK parks kit and already built versions

  • hey guys should i get a yugo sks or a russian one? plz help

  • @chimichanga1254 Yugo hands down.

  • @chimichanga1254 Russian Ive heard that the best quality goes from russian, yugo,

    norinco.

  • @pennywise872002 Actually goes Russian, Sino-Soviet, Chinese, then Yugo. Rommy's, Albanians all down at the list but they shoot just fine as well.

  • i got one of these for 250.mine though has obviosly seen combat use.it has a arsenal replacment barrel.no import marks. arsenal marked front site that is perfect.yours in this video is a unissued m59/66a1 rifle.the only bad thing with these rifles i have found is that used rifles like mine have a bad gas valve that leeks.you can get a over sized brand new though to fix this for 20 bucks from murrays.

  • @MrDANKISMOKE as of right now they are for 250 well used but still in very good shooting condition and 350 for a perfect one...no higher than that.

  • no cleaning rod?

  • $280 at Cabelas Labor Day Sale (2011). Picked one up, and I love it.

  • @MrDANKISMOKE 400 USD

  • about that grenade launcher. It was made with purpose to be compatible with NATO just because Yugoslavia always feared invasion of SSSR not NATO.

    greetings from Serbia ;)

  • in ur opinion would the 59/66 make a good sniper? I bought one of these a coupla months ago and am very pleased with it!!

  • can you remove the bayonet off the rifle?

  • @oray25 Yeah its really easy, if I remember right all I had to do was remove a screw, but the mount stays on and you would have to cut it off to remove the mount. But I would never permanently alter my SKS it is in good condition.

  • @oray25 yes you can remove the bayonet...it is only held there by a screw.i wouldnt sugest takin it off though.

  • i used to have 1 and it was actually used in the yugoslavian war

  • @sootch00 How do you take off the muzzle break i want to replace mine and i removed the pin on in but in wont break loose

  • your model is a Yugo M59/66A1 to be exact :)

  • Why is the front sight on the gas tube on the Yugo model? What is the benifit of having it on the gas tube?

  • @Humberto4790 its not on the gas tube. It is situated forward of the gas tube and the grenade launcher sight flips up on the front sight base.

  • @nikofthehood ahhhh.

  • I have a sks with a banana clip and bayanet

  • i have an sks a1 that has VUK writen in the stock under the bolt i have never seen that on an sks does anyone know what it could be.

  • @Joseapari I have a Yugo that has 3 different names carved into the original wooden stock. I've sinced replaced it with a Tapco folding stock. Not sure what the names mean.

  • @Dirtboxhor what are the names ?

  • @thegreatkurt2013 Tito, Josip and Enoz. I've read some about this and I found that rifles that were actually issued to Serbian soldiers, it was common for them to carve their names or symbols or whatever into the stocks.

  • @Joseapari VUK is a serbian name. It means WOLF.

    Badass name :)

  • How much do these run for nowadays?

  • @bornrider7 like your rifles...hate your cars. i just bought a yugo for $400 cash. a bit high but it did come with a cheap ass scope and 200 rounds on stripper clips. new in box never fired. he had another one that was one serial number off if i had the money i would of bought it too. and never fired that one. this is my second sks i bought my first one a chinese one for $75. it was ugly but accurate. and this one is BEAUTIFULLY made. ima clean it now so i can shoot it hehe

  • i likes your vids, i subed

  • I just got one of these as a gift from my Dad, my first gun :D. побведа югославя!

  • do you know of any sites thatwould ha ve a quality yugo for 300 or less im really looking to buy one and upgrade it with the tapco 922r c. kit... so i would like to keep the budget down..but in the end i just want one no matter what....thanks.

  • Love the backround music

  • no lie i got a sks russian whit a grenade launcher love it bout it a cabelas for 350

  • Were can I get one of theses in this condition?

  • I bought my Yugo 6 years ago for $125.00ish!! My God those prices soared!!

    Great review BTW!!

  • you are prepared for the coming zombie apocalypse.

  • GREAT REVIEW MAN GREAT REVIEW....

  • hey sootch does the yugo hold the tapco 20 rd mag

  • hey sootch can the yugo hold the tapco 20 round mag

  • what is the purpose of the aft sight it looks as though it slips up

  • i fuking love shooting that gun.it gives me a boner haha jkjk

  • AWWWWW YUGO I miss you, lol I had to trade you for that .357 forgive me haha

  • I have the exact same one with the grenade sights, bayonette and everything, just doesnt have the 3 dot sights and its in "not so great" condition....but it still shoots like a dream :)

  • "non-chromed bore"

Well a lot of combat DOES take place in "jungle" environments so that's kind of a must for any wide-ranging army

  • Do you have to play porn music as the background during this video?

  • does the assault weapons ban affect these? they have more than 5 rounds of an intermediate cartridge and a spot for a bayonet.

  • Yugoslav rifles have always been better quality than Russia's. Yugoslavia has an unbelievable amount of chrome, gold, silver, nickel, copper, and one of the strengths steel in the world, I think Zastava didn't have the equipment to chrome bore.

  • what is the name of song you use?

  • ould you tell me anything about yug sks's from cia and how good they are?

  • I want one :(

And they aren't even that expensive either. Very affordable guns!

  • Chinese actually produce SKS...

  • hey im tore betewwen two rifle a yogo ak47 W/ side folding stock or a yogo sks which one would be best

  • @sootch. you are right about the most things you say, but one thing. the yugo sks is not hte last sks made. Albania used to make sks till 1970-1975, very good quality too and with 20 rds mag. you can search on google for that

  • my favorite version of the SKS, Russian is my second fav.!!

  • That looks just like my SKS. I love the Yugo's.

  • I have been told by the local gun shop that the sks's with the silver slide have not been used, the ones with the black slides are refurbished

  • Those flip up three dot sights are night sights. They glow in the dark.

  • Comment removed

  • are you going to do a video on your chinese sks?

  • That is a beautiful SKS you've got there.

  • Does anyone know where I can aquire an Albanian SKS?

  • @TraumaKing1 On gunbroker or at a gunshow. They don't import them anymore, so some might be pricey.

  • The only down fall to this vesion is the barrel is not chrome lined and if you do not keep it lubricated is prone to rust and pitting internally. but yes it is the sturdiest and best built of all SKS's I have 2 in prime un-issued condition one with a teak stock and the other with beechwood. each has a grenade launcher but one launcher is ported the other is not. One also has tritium nightsights that still has a faint glow ( original...yes).

  • @TraumaKing1 thanks i figured it was something california did

  • i live in california and you can still buy a yugo. they come with holes drilled in the grenade launcher i asume it does not make it functional.

  • @scorpionsoul2003 If the holes are around the end it is a "ported" model and IS fully functional!

  • good choice of music

  • whats that song playing in the background? anybody know?

  • Seen these goin for $200-370 up here in Vancouver. Might just get me one.

  • i friekin love russian/soviet wepons

  • Sr. how do you get the stock to look so clean like that I'm about to get the Yugo and looking for tips on stock cleaning and such, I've heard mineral spirits are good what do you think?

  • I thought semi was the same as single shot?

  • @mcdade1984 single shot means you have to reload after every shot

  • Humid climate, huh? Wonder how these faired in Vietnam then?

  • Weapons are definately overrated

  • sootch I think imma go ahead and get this from big 5 for $399, what should I look for? I heard big 5 sometimes has ratty guns......

  • I just saw a yugo with blade and "launcher" in Big 5 sporting goods.(in cali)

Sure that things not a flash buffer?

  • @zenrhythman - I'm thinking about getting one from big 5, did you get one?

  • I just bought one and was wondering why it wasnt semi automatic , when it says it is. Thanks for the heads up, very informative clip.

  • When i put my selector on semi auto where the gas valve is it still fires like a bolt action and i have to manually chamber each round.. whats wrong with it?

  • Comment removed

  • hey sootch00 whats the name of the song. i love my sks,es

  • IS it possible to get a 75 round drum mag for the sks?

  • @BlackSabbath1204 The SKS comes with a 10-round internal magazine. For a 75 round drum, you'd have to make it capable of taking external mags first (I don't know how legal that is in your state).

  • @PatrioticNewYorker

    ok thanks

  • what is the song i love how you have it on ever vid good song

  • is it bad to use steel casing bullets for the sks?

  • @eLO419 the surplus ammo for it its steel copperized steel casings, so yes its fine to shoot steelies.

  • do you thinck you could use it to hunt with

  • I heard that yougo models barrels are not lined with crome, so they wear our faster. Do you know if this is true?

  • does anyone still produce the SKS?

  • Great video on a classic firearm.

  • Had a Yugo m55/66 and it was an excellent rifle if a bit heavy and long. Regrettably, I sold it. Mine had a teak-wood stock with an oil finish as opposed to beechwood with varnish.. More accurate than any AK type rifle and excellent machined receiver and high quality workmanship.

  • brianl890 Pardon me 59/66

  • probably the better sks ever made

  • theres one for $420 that comes with 3 stocks... soon its gonna be MINE!!!!!!!

  • Yes, the GL does come off and for Calif, you have to weld a muzzle break onto it to rid the gun of the treads. I also read 7 have been told that the GL can be welded on to pass Calif legal muster. It's not the GL that's the issue, it's the threaded barrel end. Several sellers will do this for you, tho more don't wish to deal with Calif in any way.

  • Just got one of these, WAY better made then any of the Chinese made ones I have owned, chrome bore or not. More accurate, milled most everything, a top quality made piece and made from harder metal then the Chinese or Russian made ones. Ok, early Russian ones are a close equal, the later ones got cheaper, softer metals wear faster... The Yugo has none of this. A+++

  • I have a Norinco that i bought back when you could get them for $59.95. has vrey good grouping(impruved slightly when Istarted reloading for it) and functions flawlessly. Dont know how many rounds I've put through it, safe guess around 2500.

  • Is there any way that the grenade attachment can be taken off. I live in Cali and like everything else they are illegal felony. Dont have one yet but wanted to get the yugo. Any info?

  • @jjvoodoo I've heard they can be removed but have not tried it. I'd get a Russian and have the slightly shorter barrel. Thanks~

  • @jjvoodoo they have some with a compensator in place of the grenade launcher. u just gotta find one.

  • @jjvoodoo there are california legal versions of the yugo sks where the importer converts the grenade launcher into a muzzle brake. check Century arms they may have some CA legal ones left.

  • @jjvoodoo you can take it to a gun smith to get it taken off, or you can search for one of the rare yugo models( sorry can think of the name) that dosent have it, or just buy a diffrent model, try a russian made one, decent price, and not nade launcher

  • @jjvoodoo if you go to big 5 they sell the exact rifle but they cut the grenade launcher off and put a muzzle break on it

  • @jjvoodoo you can buy them straight out of stock now that they have been released from the yugo stockpile. i know someone that bought the same one and was able to buy pass any laws on the bayonet as well as the grenade launcher since it was not bought in the us and because it is an original piece straight out of surplus so it not considered an assault weapon yet by the federal gov. this guy went over the rifle really well.

  • @jjvoodoo I live in California and I'm about to buy a Yugo Sks. What they did to make it California compliant was to remove the the launcher, and replace it with a muzzle break. We have a lot of "interesting" laws. Haha. Happy shooting!

  • @jjvoodoo Hey dude they're legal in cali. I live here too and they sell them just like this at Big 5. as long as its semi auto, 5 rounds mag, and doesnt actually have the launcher they wont give you any problems. the grenade bracket is not legally different than a set of dove tails.

  • @jjvoodoo just bought my SKS here the land of fruits and nuts (california) and you have to have a sleeve WELDED over the launcher part to make them legal. Weak.

  • @oopablo ny is cruddy like that too im sure i can't get an sks here.

  • @jjvoodoo Yes you can remove it by knocking out the small bolt that is located on the botom side of the granade launcher attachment. Than you need a wrench to unscrew it. It has a normal thread, not like the left thread like ak47 does. But you will damage the granede launcher by doing so. Sometimes the granede launcher won't come off normaly and you'll have to use a flamer to heat the muzzle up.

I personally think that it's not a good idea, you should leve it on, or modify it into a compensator.

  • @jjvoodoo dude they are not illegal i live in CA too and they sell yugo sks with the grenade launcher at my local big 5. but then i also live in a kinda small town, you must live in LA county?

  • @BloodthirstyGnome hahaha...I do live in L.A. County. How did you guess. Thank you for the info though. I read that they were illegal in some unofficial forum. I wasn't positive on that. Thanks again.

  • @jjvoodoo cali sucks thats moronic they will not let you onw such a rifle

  • @jjvoodoo cali sucks thats moronic they will not let you own such a rifle cali and mass are evil states

  • @jjvoodoo Big 5 often has ones that are "California legal" for sale, imported by Century Arms, at around $389-$399; check the weekly ad. The only difference is that instead of the grenade launcher, they have a muzzle brake. Purist collectors will be horrified, but if you're not worried about reselling it, then get it. The one I bought was in near-perfect condition, with minimal cosmoline. It came with a strap, but no cleaning kit in the butt trap door. Loads of fun!

  • @jjvoodoo You can get it removed before brining it into the state and replace it with a functional muzzle brake that looks very similar to the GL.

  • It's sounds to me like the yugo is your favorite version? they're all good solid guns, my best friend just bought a ruskie yesterday, in great condition, and it fires very nicely, no jams or slam fires, and we didn't even clean it yet.

  • @psychoclown420 I've never fired an SKS that didn't function flawlessly. Yugos are excellent weapons but my personal favorite is my Russian. My original Chinese is also quality rifle. All SKS's are quality rifles and just plain work unless they are in need of repair. I also have a review of the Russian SKS. Thanks~

  • @sootch00 Yeah, i think all the bad rep is probably from anti-gun groups. The only reason it should slam fire is if you never ever clean it

  • I changed mine to a folding stock cut off the G-launchpad and long knife platform-added a spring loaded firing pin and 20 rnd Tapco mags. It's only 7 lbs and runs like a champ.

  • The yugo is by far the ugliest model of SKS out there.

  • Comment removed

  • Thats just like my yugo SKS I love it. Just finished cleaning all the cosmo off it. its just as clean as yours but it had some rust on the mag and bolt carrier but I got all of it off and put new bluing onit.

  • rifle of our fathers

  • i like the music

it was a tought choice between a chinese sks and an unissued-new condition 91/30 mosin nagant. i chose the mosin as there are alot of cheap chinese sks's out there at the moment, so chose the piece of ww2 history. another major selling point what the rounds they use, my goodness! i cant wait to take that puppy out. the sks will have to be my second gun i think.

  • Comment removed

  • i have a chinese SKS with a black folding stock and pistol grip handle with a red dot sight flash hider and the bayonet which i put back on i did have a bi pod but meh didnt like it

  • when you aim this riffle, you instantly got the strange feeling - I can hit anything, recommended specially for those who think auto is better

  • Damn your sks looks sharp and clean as a new m1 carbine or Garand!!

  • Beautiful SKS.

  • Comment removed

  • I saw one at Big 5 Sporting goods for $400.

  • I really like the Yugo SKSs. Now I'm starting to wonder if I should get one instead of a Zastava M70ab2.

  • Comment removed

  • i bought mine for $150.00 three years ago at a gun show and love it

  • You should shoot the camera for a laugh.

  • What is the song playing in the beginning called?

    Nice vid by the way.

  • @wowrazzor The song was written and song by a friend of mine. He made the CD in his basement :)
