The dance by dance descriptions does not bother me, I only wish the video quality was better. I think this was at the 2007 US National Professional Latin Dance Championship which Max & Yulia won. The first of four for Yulia. The last three (2008-2010) was with Riccardo. Anyone know the dance avenue and year for sure?

LOVE Yulia and Max, and this is by far my favorite of all their routines (and I got to see it live twice, including this actual performance!). Was very sad when they split, but her new partner, Riccardo, is awesome too. They were the world latin showdance champions this past year, I believe. :-D

And I'm a ballroom dancer and I can be analytical about routines and stuff too but can that male announcer just SHUT UP during the cha cha section?!

@SimanSimanS: Don't compare DWTS to this. It takes years of dedicated training to get to this level of dancing. The DWTS professionals are dance champions in their own right but don't expect them to get their partners to dance to this level in just one season. Besides most of the "stars" can't dance no matter how much they try. For me DWTS is entertaining in its own sort of way especially when there's a female "celebrity" that I like. The popular voting sucks though.

there's this other video with a couple dancing to the same song. the couple is from So You Think You Can Dance, actually. that one's more performance based, but it's entertaining in it's own way. and they did extraordinarily well considering that it was one of their first times doing ballroom.

It Is brilliant for a samba or a cha cha, and long enough to do a long routine.

I love doing this with lots of samba rolls.

Amazing precision from these dancers -I wish i had taken up Latin and Ballroom when I was younger-- i was too busy chasing chicks and doing sport--I could have combined the two (and ahd much more success in the first!) If I had choose dancing, ha!ha!

@highwaysheep This video was from the "America's Ballroom Challenge 2008" on PBS. They broadcast the competition from all the different styles over several nights. Most viewers were probably clueless, as was the celebrity commentator (female - Jasmine Guy). Yes - most of the comments were unhelpful. But it sure was great to watch all the competitions - many showing the big groups for one style going all the way to the grand winner.

Don't get me wrong, I could watch Yulia dance for hours on end, but I don't think it's fair to compare the "real deal" to Dancing with the Stars. Dancing with the Stars is created for a TV audience, for millions of prime time viewers who have little dance background. It's meant to bring dance to a mass audience, which I think is pretty ridiculously admirable.
