Tortilla production is a source of water pollution in Mexico. Every Kg of corn uses two L's of water. A small mill can pollute upwards of 1K L's of water / day. There are 20K of these mills in Mexico. In the 1st phase of the 3 month UAM study, experts were able to reduce water pollution by 80%, by removing the solids & producing more dough with them. Inspectors frequently visit the tortilla factories, but only to collect bribes. Hypocrisy at its finest!

Mexico's cities produce over 12.9M tons of solid waste yr along with ~164M tons of industrial waste. Mexico has 409 km^3 of renewable water resources. In the north, fresh water resources are scarce & polluted; in the central SE region they are inaccessible & of poor quality. Only 69% of the nation's rural dwellers have pure drinking water. An environmental protection statute adopted in 1971 has not been widely enforced.

The funny thing is that the US keeps documentation of the pollution & actually does something about the companies that pollute. Mexico doesn't give a damn - which is why sewage flows from rivers in Mexico into the US. Not only that but your gov't doesn't even keep documentation of the problems there thus proving that they have no intention of doing anything about it. It's further proof that you ppl are disorganized & borderline retarded when it comes to addressing important issues

Many illegals who skulk across our borders have tuberculosis (TB). That disease had disappeared from America thanks to excellent hygiene and powerful modern drugs such as Isoniazid and Rifampin. TB’s swift, deadly return now is lethal for about 60% of those infected. The culprit is the new Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Until recently MDR-TB was endemic to Mexico.

Mexico's fed'l government is backing the incineration of toxic, dangerous & biological/infectious wastes as the most viable form of their disposal for industries & hospitals, according to results of the country's Environment Ministry (Semarnat) forum.

Their findings were that incineration would be the most practical form of disposal given the realities of Mexico's infrastructure limits in dealing with such materials.

In Rosarita Beach, a population explosion has obliterated the city's flimsy infrastructure & meager financial resources. Thousands live in shantytowns with no sewage or paved streets. The town is running out of water & schools are so overcrowded that 100's of youths are left to roam the streets, a law-&-order time bomb. In the last few years has prompted 100's of impoverished Mexicans, desperate for work, to move to Rosarito.

@TheTankinTortuga Uninsured citizens People who lack health insurance often delay or skip care, then wind up with advanced diseases that are more expensive to treat. Many uninsured people seek treatment in emergency rooms, which are far more expensive than doctors' offices. And many of these patients don't pay, causing hospitals to raise rates on other patients to compensate.
