@lakeguy8888 Do you mean their FIRST bassist? Bobby Sheehan? Uh, yeah, he kinda died of a drug overdose back in '99.
Way to make an arse of yourself, mate. Show some respect. Hell, ya might not have liked Pavaratti, but the fat bastard could sing! Bobby could tear up that bass, too.
@greyjohnstone Was he any relation to Billy Sheehan? One of the other great bass players. I'm not a big fan of Billy's style, but he's good none the less.
This was the first time John & Co. had been on Dave in a LONG time. BT use to be Letterman's fav band. Sad to see it go away...However, I'd have to agree w/Dave. No need for a keyboardist...Just like Bob said. RIP BT :(
For anyone who loves bands like Blues Traveler, Sister Hazel, O.A.R, DMB etc and would like to see a return to music like we had in the 90s, please visit my band Red Dust Road at reddustroad doht com and you can download our 6 track EP for FREE. Click on our username on this post and you can hear our new single too. This isn't spam we just wanna be heard! While you're there please give us a 'like' on Facebook too - support new bands and decent, honest songwriting! Much love, RDR
@Cabbageweasel yeah maybe, but I think it's more so whoever edited the sound- the fade and such was awful! - Popper may not sound his best, but I believe he and BT had been touring like crazy and the guy gives it all each and every night, and he'd play and til he passed out if he had to.
I'm not a huge fa of this song. I don't mind the new stuff and the sound pretty good, but the older stuff will always be the best for me. Orange in the Sun I think would be a better song.
NO offense to Bob, he had his reasons, but I think adding the KB was a good idea in that a good keyboard man can add a lot of versatility to the songs. When a band has only a lead guitar/bass and drum the solos can start to sound the same. A keyboard on the other hand can add so much variety into the equation that it can make for a whole new experience, hence the performers can learn even more and become better performers.
love the band like the song really not sure the keyboards add anything of any worth tho if anything its an annoying tinkle in the background popper still singing and playing harp as awesome as ever
They use to be on Letterman all the time. This was the first time they were on in many years. Think Dave didn't like the direction they took...Neither did I. Bob was the backbone of the jamming part of BT. John wanted to add a keyboardist for a long time but Bob was against it. Bob dies, gets quickly replaced, and in comes a keyboardist. Kind of lame. The "Love & Greed" they did on Late Show was SICK!!! They still rock live I guess, but I haven't seen em since '98.
@The1212Fuzzy I agree this is probably their best tune since Bob died, but there were much better songs on Bridge than Back In the Day. Truth Be Told had a lot of great stuff on it. Everything else for the most part sucks. I'm guessing you like the pop aspect of BT rather then the jam.
@MrFozz73 Well it depends on what era BT ur talking about. When Bobby was alive I definetly prefer the jam. Mulling it Over is my second favorite BT song and U cant get more jammy than that. Pop BT when Bob was alive was awful. Ever since then I have prefered Pop BT a bit more because they put more effort into it. They want another Run Around when they need another Love and Greed Crash Burn Mulling it over something like that. And whats wrong with Back in the Day?
does anyone know what the hell that microphone set up is that popper's using. it looks like something out of ghostbusters! works though, just wanna know what it is?
This is a good tune...But's straight up a pop song. First three albums blew my mind. Started to lose interest when Four came out...They're not a radio band, and should have never tried to have been.
stop hatin guys! sure its not like the old days but shit times change. they still kick ass. popper is the man, the keyboardist isnt horrible, i like him and this song it's got a good groove to it.
@mkluseboy reminds me of 311. mid 90s to early 2000s stuff is legendary, but the latest stuff here is pretty rubbish. incubus will be next unfortunately i think. they already got too mainstream for dirk lance. i hope to god they dont tho. they need to make a full length oddysey type album. or a double lp.
Just saw them play at Alpine, and they are just as good as they were with Bobby, I have followed this band since 91 and they are different no doubt, they may jam different/less with out Bobby but they are way tighter. Just cause Popper lost weight don't mean shit he is still the American Blues, no one sings/writes like him, and no one plays harmonica better, not even close. See them, and support the band, they are an undying piece of Americana, like the Dead.
I've always been a huge BT fan, and I have watch them try new sounds and songs through the years. This is different, but that to me, is what makes them good artists. They are willing to dive out on a ledge and try something new. I can't wait to go to a concert next month.
stop hatin' people! Blues Traveler has a unique sound to them and they can't please everybody.
I'm also partial to the older stuff, but not just hook or run around, more like "The Mountains win again" but the new album isn't bad. It may not be what we Blue Traveler fans are accustom to but to me the band is making its way back to their roots while adding in new flavor and style as the current times warrant it.
"Love Does" is a very very cool song on this new album.
@MrDjwage Nope, he was not. At least, not according to Wikipedia-and we ALL know how accurate THAT is!

Love it. I have no idea why people are complaining. Oh yeah, its not Run around.
I would imagine these are the same people who hate In Utero cause it isn't Nevermind, or Warning because it wasn't Dookie.
