By the way, the telescope with the orange frame in this video is the 3 meter NASA InfraRed Telescope Facility which saw first light in 1979.

What with Jodrel Bank having been threatened with closure due to idiots, and Brian May getting to hand in his cosmology thesis years late, one might wonder if (extremely dark) "blue sky" scientific fields are worth it. Science at this level is massively underfunded and under-appreciated on every continent, but is ultimately the spring from which all later knowledge flows. A nice piece of filk to celebrate some involved in it.
