everyones looking at this whole election from a childs point of view. A child begs for more without understanding of what his parents can afford. If an adult wanted a new car, he wouldnt go ask his parents for one cause he would know his parents couldnt afford it... its the same principal. You cant spend what you don't have. We have to start looking at the big picture and escape from our own little world. If we dont be careful with our spending pretty soon our country will be neck deep in dept!
The claim that the other parties forced him into a deficit doesn't hold: the fact is he ruled out running a deficit. He's more than shown a willingness to strong arm parliament and run too the Governor General for help when he's wanted to his way or been threatened. At the very least, he should have never made a commitment to a course of action that he knew probably couldn't be kept and only made for a good sound byte.
It's very funny that the liberals and the coalition forced harper to introduce massive stimulus spending resulting in a deficit and then have the gall to blame it on Harper.
@daisy128 Preemptively, you referred to the Liberals as 'LIEberals,' which is uncalled for and hilariously weak as a criticism. As well, the coalition do no introduce the budget in Parliament. That, by parliamentary decree, is the job of the majority party. They can, however, decide to vote against the budget, which in this case egregiously overlooks the plight of lower middle class and below families. He fact they intended to spend more money on a damn jet than health care entirely is a joke.
Need to make this into a short ad with some quotes from papers and the like stating world economy going into recession b4 him saying that, him saying that, esp part where he chocked on own words, then find some footage of Jim doing his dirty work then play it.
The only party that will protect the Canadian worker, increase our CPP pay-outs,increase our EI pay-outs,tax the rich/big companies on Bay street and big oil companies .....are the NDP! canadians have to wake up some day and STOP voting for Liberals and Conservatives just because thier parents did! Liberals and Conservatives have had many chances at the FEDERAL LEVEL since the trudeau era but blew it everytime! NDP all the way.
Forget Oil Revenue... Harper boasts paying $39 Billion in debt over four years, but consider he raided EI premiums of $52 Billion dollars, SKIMMING a cool $13 Billion for his Gen Revennue. Add in $4 billion from sales of wireless spectrum & the fact he had a $13 Billion surplus starting & you you have $30 billion extra dollars he burned thru to get to a Deficit of $56 Billion
The Auto Bailout & Stimulaus Pkg this year= $34 billion
Have to admit it's counterintuitive to 95% of the world who has some sort of stimulus policy plan diluting currency, printing money, growing debt and deficit.
I wish people would step back and understand the politics behind his decision to run a deficit. Believe me I don't agree with deficit spending - especially during a recession - but Harper had to do it or risk another election (all other parties were promoting gov't spending that leads to deficits).
Let's remember that this is a minority government, and the conservatives can't do anything without the support of the opposition. All other parties are equally complicit and would do the same.
Exactly! It's hardly his fault when he was practically forced to spend money. And no one could predict just how bad the economic recession was going to be at that time.
Indeed. Now if only someone would make a video with Mr Ignatieff and Mr. Layton demanding the government pump out some stimulus spending (which by definition, is financed by borrowing) or else they'd bring the country to yet another election, and we'd have a complete picture of who wanted what.
Anyyyywayyyy, restoring growth is much more important than deficits during "the worst economic crisis in a generation", and I think you all know that.
Let's just hang onto this scumbag rather than elect the other scumbag. A Harper minority is about as far as we should trust this NWO loving, Zionist sympathizer. Anyways he's not too bright and can't keep his story straight.

Interesting. I got a flier from Liberal MP Bryon Wilfert.(Richmond Hill)
He claims the Harper stimulus is a result of Liberal pressure., funny how he never gave the Liberals credit for the deficit.
The Liberals think were stupid, but the polls show the opposite.

It's really hard to trust a man who will lie about a serious matter like this just to get elected.
