I like how Vocaloid never specified if any of the characters are lovers, siblings, friends or even how old some of them are. They purposely didn't make an anime either despite the extremely large fan base. They wanted each characters personality and everything to go along with them to be up to the fan's imagination. Pretty cool.

Len and rin are twins, Hatsune miku is the first made, and i think kaito and meiko are siblings. Oh. their purpose is to sing the most awesome japanese songs ever.
