The issue or Irish unity was rarely mentioned if at all during the recent elections in the north of Ireland. Are Sinn Fein operating a policy of appeasment to their unionist brothers?, Irish unity and Sinn Fein are becoming more and more distant. A fat cheque from the british exchequer seems more appealing to SinnFein than Irish unity, Martyers like Bobby Sands and the hunger strikers, Mairead Farrel, must be turning in their graves.
kathleen largey what a champion for the irish republican cause i remember talking to maire drumm about the flying column she said without them we would be in a far worse place than we are now what she meant was through music and song ireland has rallied there young to the flag i for wouldnt have been invlved as strongly without my parents playing the flying column in the house in andersonstown im not saying it was the only factor but it helped
Kathleen was sadly taken by cancer too young. My mother speaks very fondly of her as a lovely lady as they were in hospital at the same time. Her husband Eamon was also a great singer who was sadly killed in a car crash in Andytown in the 70's. Great Irish family of ballad singers
this is a great song and voice i can feel the sad i am english i look at irish history we have murder the irish in the pass and took there country fuck our army and queen you lie to us please for give me
Martin, I`m sorry for your loss mate but we`ll all be together again, she`s in good hands with Bobby and the lads take care Mo Chara, Big Mickey in Ct.
im a falls road man ,now in the usa,i grew up listening to kathleen,i finally met her in new york for a noraid fundraiser,an angel on earth ,now one in heaven, tiocfadh ar la.
wat a song luv it only are rivers run free but 1 day we hope ireland will b free an the torment that we hav been put through will b over god bless kathleen my she R.I.P
as a child, my nan used to always play and sing alot of irish songs. I was brought up and raised in Liverpool. I would be very interested in my nans stories about Ireland, that of what her parents experienced in coming from Ireland. Liverpool new generation do not know fully what our ancestors experienced during the trouble. Listening to each word of this song, sums up alot of the emotions. This song really touched me, I had to stop an listen to each word the first time I heard it.
when i listen to this song my child hood comes flooding back like going to dublin on protest marches riots on oldpark road and in ardoyne mocked up cells on the street corner to let the world know of dirty protest hunger strkes men lost to a war that still carrys on victory to 3rd batt ardoyne no surrender
