The four members came together and it just would not have been the same if it had been any others then these 4. Can you imagine Mick Jagger as the singer? Would not have been the same. It is sometimes hard to distinguish context of posts, so I must ask if you seriously believe Robert can't read just because he said, "No, no, I can't read ... especially THOSE papers." This is the same man who spontaneously wrote Led Zeppelin's epic song Stairway to Heaven in about an hour. If he could not read, then he could not write, and he IS a songwriter. Many Led Zep songs written by Robert are based on The Lord of the Rings books, so I think it is safe to assume that Robert can read.
