  • Hey do you need a 2 gb 5870 or even a better 5970 to run wow above 60 fps with eyefinity? Or will the 1gb one be good enough? I dont play anything else..

  • @ChimeraProd

Sorry I missed your question. 1gb 5870 is adequate.

  • Another reason I cannot play COD in eyefinity, is that I actually feel quite sick to my stomach after about 30 minutes of play. Immersive? Yes to the point where your brain induces motion sickness.

  • Yes, the resolution is 5760 1080.

It has huge cool factor, however...

    1) Playing COD, or first person shooters where we encounter mobs on the periphery of a normal monitor, puts them almost 2 feet further out of your main line of vision.

So it actually puts you at a huge disadvantage.

I have to set the game up so it runs on only one monitor.

    2) Eyefinity does interesting things with periphery vision. Mimicking the human eye there is a distortion of the periphyra.

  • Very cool. There are a few games in the works (BF Bad Company 2 for sure) that allow you to adjust higher FOV (field of view) levels specifically for eyefinity type setups. You are correct that most old games do not have the FOV support for multiple monitor setups.

  • so is this really just 5000 x 1080 or actually 1900 stretch out to 5000 x 1080.

  • wake up mate up can move all your buffs and target bars in wow, easy W pitbull and a buff add on .

  • Ah thats good news!

I have been using Bartender. Which is great for everything else but. Which buff addon do you recommend?

  • I have installed pit bull and it has helped alot.

The learning curve for the mod, is pretty steep, but you are right. It does help move more pertinent information closer to my field of view.

However, I am still finding some information hard to track.

  • zom out pls looks like shit, when the wing are bigger to the side

  • The interesting thing about eyefinity, is that the 3 monitor's graphics are not the same.

The center monitor is as any monitor would be by way of clarity and resolution.

The side monitors deliberately distort the image, to enhance what the brain would normally see in peripheral vision to create a 3d effect.

  • So what you notice in the side monitors would not be helped by zooming out. It isn't a camera defect.

When I play Call of Duty on this, I can actually get motion sickness. Because the brain is actually attempting to keep up and coordinate the 3d effect. Cod is actually disadvantaged by eye-finity btw.

  • How do you mean "disadvantaged by eyefinity"?

Don't you see enemies running up your back? Can't see the bad thing.

Please do tell me because I'm a regular MW2-player and am going to get the monitors for my 5870 soon.

  • Your field of view is not greater than that which you see on any regular monitor. Unlike a few of the advertisments. Don't believe them. You can't see more than you see on a single monitor. Its just bigger, stretched out, and at higher resolutions.

Similar to the difference you see from a 19" monitor to a 23" monitor.

  • The resolutions are just stretched to 1080x5300.

The disadvantage happens when game companies "say" they are eye-finiity ready, when in fact all they did was change their resolutions. Because the screen is aprox 1 metre wide, you have more out on the periphery of your vision that normally would be more easily seen on a 1920x 1080.

  • In some cases you have to turn your head to "see" your enemy now, when in a normal monitor it is in the center of your eyesight. Periphery vision issues can actually mean that your brain does not see an enemy you would normally see and be able to respond to.

If eyefinity worked like the advertisement you could see more outside the boundaries of a 1600 or 1900x dps it would balance out. But that is simply not the case. It is false advertising.

  • Now after all that, I have to say I still love my eye-finity. and run it on a single monitor in that case. For games like World of Warcraft, where for the most part the periphery is unimportant, (except as i noted earlier the character bars on the upper right and left corners)

I can't use it for COD. Simply because I can't see and react to peripheral vision as i do normally. So I change it

  • Once you configure your eyefinity, you can switch back and forth to various profiles that can turn off the side monitors, mirror the 3 monitors, or operate as though you had 3 separate graphics cards running a monitor each.

  • It should be said that most game companies I have seen thus far do not properly support eyefinity. Most approach i by upping the resolution like 5200x1080. Notice for example on the upper part of the extreme right and left of the screens.

There, stuck in the corners are your Character bars, and on the opposite side your buffs and debuffs.

  • For eye-finity they should be moved to the center monitor so you can easily see them. To have to turn your head to find out how many debuffs you have say in TOC battle with Gormok the Impaler, is a huge disadvantage when you are trying to tank it.

Bar tender or any of the other mods don't effect those 2 areas... yet... nor does Blizzard give you the option of moving them. So while they advertise they are eyefinity compatible they are really just lying to you.

  • looks great. 3 lvl 80s here, i got carried away lol. not playing much anymore. just got 5770, maybe 2 more monitors drop from the sky for me lol.

  • Lol, it sure is mind-blowing.

It can make playing more challenging however, since Blizzard hasn't allowed certain changes to the interface.

Like many games that are "compatible" they simply expanded the resolution to 5200x

So your character bars are stuck way out on the periphery of your vision. Until they become movable, it is pretty challenging playing... but still mind-blowing in its visual intensity.

  • the monitors are 2 asus 23s at 1900x1080

and in the center a del 23 with a display port.

The display port monitor is a necessity.

  • haha pussy, geta real drake, man up splurge the 2k gold or so and get your white drake

  • Dude, I love it. Beats my 17'' monitor.

  • pretty nice. i have the 4850x2 and it runs pretty well but i only run it on 1 asus 23" 1080 monitor
