This is obviously a better way to adjust the diopter. And if you are using a really high focal length like around at 300mm or more, you will be able to zoom in and after focus, you can adjust the diopter much more easily. In some camera settings the display info doesn't stay ON for more than 10 seconds, so that's not a good way to fix. I use this technique, much more "accurate" on greater magnification.

How can you be sure that your lens is focusing properly?
Makes more sense to look at the display information in the viewfinder and adjust the diopter until that is as sharp and bright as possible.
