  • cookingupastory,

I bought my monthly allotment of garlic. I love garlic, it came from China, where the rivers run black with sludge.

We need more people like you who really care about what happens to your neighbors. We need to get back to providing jobs with sustainable wages.

Blind obedience is not good, the mentality of our country must change. We all need to open our hearts and minds to new ideas that will help more people. Spreading the wealth is a start. Thanks for your voice.

  • Change is happening, I believe. Bits at a time. Just the fact that books like these are being written and talked about, helps toward people making new choices.

  • We have a long way to go. The average Joe hasn't a clue as to how he is being ripped off, he just keeps on trading blind obedience for his own personal wealth. This too will catch up to them. Even though some are now seeing that their share in the wealth is not forth coming, it will be very difficult to educate those who control the wealth to understand why it is important to spread it. Greed has blinded them. Necessity will be the only factor to turn things around.

  • Very interesting and thought provoking. What is the NAME of the store in Portland (ME? OR?) that supports local farmers?

  • She was referring to Portland, OR. But, she never named the store. I could hazard a guess, tho, for a local 'chain' works diligently to support local farmers and food artisans. I will ask Ann which she meant, and post it when I hear back from her.

  • Hi Grancie48! Ann said she was referring to the New Seasons Markets. There are less than 12 that serve the Portland area. It's a great store. If you are ever in the area, check them out!

  • Thanks for following up on my question.

  • Local organic, minimally processed foods! Yes! Vote with your FORK!

  • Yes, local farmers and growers need all the support they can get.

  • I love her idea of working towards a whole new way of being in the world. Feeling rather illiterate about my kitchen knowledge, but trying...

  • Love your videos. Thanks for posting.

  • Loved it....so true!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing this!

    Happy V-Day

  • Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Happy Heart Day to you too =)

  • Great stuff.

  • I am always looking forward to your videos! This is another example of the wonderful topics you choose to cover. Thank you.

    Octahoney

  • Thanks, Octahoney. I learned so much from Ann's research, writings, and just talking with her. Growing up I never thought about where my food came from. Now I do, and first hand sometimes too. If you have a topic suggestion, please let me know!
