Rough country leveling kit for the front, (keys, shocks, and boots) and it sat great for about 20k miles. Now with 116k miles on the truck the front end it at 37inches driver side, 38pass side, and the rear is same, 38 in. I have my driver side key nearly maxed and the pass side
Still has almost half the adjuster bolt to go. I think I have WY bars. it's a 2000 silverado NBS, full replacement bumper, 285/70/16 nitto trail grapplers.
beautiful truck, im thinking of putting the same leveling kit on my 01 z71. how does it handle off road with the kit and how much more ground clearance did you gain?
did you end up doing a alignment after?? I just bought the same kit minus the shocks.. and was wondering if its gonna throw the camber off enough to notice in tire wear or rideability???
hey I was think of putting a 3 inch lift on my 97 z71 but im not sure if I should spend the 500 bucks and get it done right or if I should do it how u did cause i dont know if theres a major performance difference, does ur lift still perform good while off roading?
So if I put the 3" blocks in the back with the front keys it won't be drastically higher on back then the front. How much taller is the back then the front stock?
@josephfoster30 I bought the 1.5-2inch full leveling kit, and it came with New keys,4 new shocks, and two 3inch blocks for the rear. boots are extra $1.00 a piece. Its came out 1 inch higher in the back, thats all.
What do I need to level my 2002 chevy 1500 2WD like you did? Some tire shops around here are telling me I only have to raise the front 2" and do nothing to the back.
@josephfoster30 its up to you because rough country sells the kit with or with out 3 inch rear blocks. I m sure you need the rear lifted it will fit bigger tires without doing anything.
lol i have the same kit my front end rides like shit and my tires are wearing bad but i did get the ground clearance i wanted am about to get 285/75/16 or just go with a 33''
Nice looking pickup! I have the same truck but it's black on black. I hope mine turns out as well as yours. I'm fixing order the same kit. Any trouble with yours?
@rodfather450r I would like my truck alot more if it was all black. I thinking of getting the whole bottom side up to the rock guard of the truck sprayed with black bed-liner like the box.
@ccapanna34 once you have it off the ground and torsion keys unloaded. hit the torsion bar with a hammer and punch it should pop out. that's how I got mine off
Same keys and shocks I have. Definitely stiffer ride, not bad. Offroad I can definitely feel the bars stiffen and it rides like crap. As for people questioning tire size. 305's are what you can fit max with bumper trimming, they will rub over bumps and at full turn sometimes. 285's are the biggest I can go with since I haul and tow. I had my upper and lower ball joints replaced as well after this.
@4986hunterofsouth The ride is fine alittle stiff but its mostly the tires that effect the ride.it feels like a truck now before it felt like a cadillac.
@4986hunterofsouth yes I really wanted it lifted and this is by far the cheapest way to do it.I wanted the front bumper to be above center of my tire for climbing purpose and it got me just at that height. Not really noticeable at first but it is taller. If your looking for a big noticeable change in height you wont see it.Its only a 1.5 -2 inch lift/level.
@4986hunterofsouth No torsion bars are not all the way.the keys are angled to give lift without having to max out the torsion bars.all the way cranked torsion bars will not be good for balljoints. The three inch blocks in the rear are installed then the front is just minor adjustments to level it out from natural torsion bar key alignment.you mark the threads/ install new key / screw back to the same mark you took them out at.or measure bolts if new.
how about your ball joints? do they wear out quicker? i want a levelling kit but i have heard a lot of horror stories about people constantly having to change ball joints and doing damage to front end components
@kwklw in my own experience its the cranking of the torsion bars too much and offset wheels will wreck ball joints over time.my ride is stiffer but i like it.
@low72 i have 35 bfg mt's with just my stock torsion bars tightened...dont believe all this crap you cant fit 35's without a real lift, with roughcountry leveling kit you could fit 35's no doubt
@mikesimon31 yeah man im positve, i wouldnt get a leveling kit. i have just the stock blocks in that back on mine with the t bars and cranked and it looks real sexy with the front a lil higher than theback
@davematthewsfan311 just got my truck lifted 2"s front and back and im just gonna buy 305/70/16 or 285, but if i was running stock rims i can fit 35"s, so idkkk what you do anyways ? send me a pic
Did you need any special tool to put the blocks in the back. Please give me some details on how you did that. I know how to put the keys in the torsion bars but I have never put the blocks in.
@Blake10190 i just bought one for my 02 silverado. i got it off of ebay from never enough auto and it costed 210 with shipping. check out my vid of this kit if you want to see it before it was installed.
Mpg are pretty shit about 16-17 MPG.

i would NOT get after market torsion keys on z71s they fuck up the front track width as in pulling the tires closer and it looks like SHIT
